Init loads, then stops

I have the following problem.

I installed the game and could start the game. I had black backgrounds so I updated my videodriver (Hercules 3d prophet 7500).

After the update of my driver, I start the game but it doesn't get passed the init screen. I remain on the screen that says 'done'.

Does 'done' mean for civ4 that the game is over .

Anybody an idea?

If I do an update of the driver. I pass the load screen.

F*cking amateurs.

Spend all night just installing the game and get it "running". The black screen is still there.

I had the same problem that resulted in not getting past the "done" screen! I reinstalled my ATI Radeon 9000 (mobile) drivers which has gotten me past the load screen but now I don't get the firaxes and 2kgames videos, just the sound and when it goes to the main Civ IV menu; I get no menu! Just the globe in the background and the music.

I've never had a problem installing anything before. These problems occurred after I installed the game on my desktop which resulted in the same see-through advisors and black maps; so my MUCH faster and more updated laptop doesn't even let me start a game....
