Initialize Renderer failed

Hello everybody,

I post this topic and I know what you thought :"Another Initialize Renderer Failed" (IFR)

I know that was discussed a lot everywhere but I can't find something that fit my problem. So let me explain.

I was playing on a computer then I installed Civ 4 on an old one (just Civ 4). I put the update 1.74 and I got the D3D error, I fix it by installing a new Directx 9 version (I don't remerber which one was) but the dll in my c:\windows\system32\ contains up to the D3DX9_37.dll

I was able to play the game smoothly.

I installed also Warlords extension plus the 2.13 update, and the extension works also fine.

Finally I installed BTS extension, but I got the IFR error at the init engine stage everytime I launch the BTS extension. I tried the 3.19 patch after that but it is not working anyway.

I don't understand why the original game + the first extension is working and not BTS... I confirm that after installing BTS, I can still play to the original civ 4 and warlords.

I also read in the user manuals that the minimum requirement is the same for all the games :
64 MB video card with hardware T&L (GeForce 2, Radeon 7500 or better)
So if can run the original I should be able to run BTS...

I'am running Windows XP SP3

I don't know what to do now. I don't know either what exactly the error is. I changed the ini file to log the init :

Your video drivers are quite old. Perhaps a visit to the Nvidia website might be a bit of help.

Update your drivers, if you can find them, but I think the biggest problem might be the video card's age, and the amount of graphics memory. You barely meet the specs for Vanilla, and I believe that BTS requires a bit more out of the card than it can provide.

Ori might have some better ideas, but that's my best guess.

Hello,

The minimum requirement for Vanilla and BTS is the same.
Also I can't get a new driver because my graphic cards is a model for laptop. So my driver has never been included in any driver from nvidia. Therefore my manufacturer never update my driver...

Thanks.
