Install crash

When i try to install the game in crashes on about the 2rd bar
on thefile C:\...\Sid meier's Civilization 4 Complete\assets\assets0.fpk
with the error messege

Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: Civ4Component
File: E:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Please help

Ps It was brought brand new over the internet

I assume this is a disc version?
if so the disc is either dirty or damaged - I'd return it.

Ya it is the 1 disc version of the complete version
I think i will return it

crc errors say that while copying the files from the disc to the computer it finds that they are corrupted - in theory this could be a cd drive problem - but in practice it almost never is. Usually the disc is either damaged or dirty - you can try cleaning it with a soft dry cloth, but really with a newly bought disc: its most likely damaged.

yes i think it might be the disc as it works on none of my computers
but i don't understand how a brand new disc can be damaged or corrupt

during manufacturing a disc can be scratched or unevenly written onto - and while that should not happen it certainly does. And I would just blame it on a manufacturing defect if its a brand new disc.
