I keep getting an error at the very end of the installation process saying "C++ runtime error" or something like that, it's a data lookup error, cyclic redudancy iirc. It's while it's installing Civilization IV.msi.

Running XP w/SP2, 256MB RAM, 1.8GB Pent4, GeForce 4MX420, basically mininmum requirements. I have XP fully updated...

Start->Run->type C:\program files\common files
Right click installshield, rename to installshieldold
run the installer again, it will auto-reinstall installshield, this might help

No luck. The precise error is in a popup that reads is as follows:

Feature: C++ Runtime Libraries 7.1
Data:*blank*
File: *blank*
Error: Data Error (Cyclic redundancy check)

I found on another thread a tip: before clicking the "OK" on that box, go find the directory you are installing the game into. COPY every file and folder to a temporary folder. Then, click OK which rolls back the install and deletes the files, but you now have copies! Copy the files/folders back to your Civ IV directory. Game should work, but your PC does not think it's installed (it's not in Add/Remove Programs, no shortcuts, etc.).

I can play the game, now, but the 1.09 patch won't install. Why? Because my PC tells Installshield that Civ IV is not on my system!

Argh.

There MUST be a way to fix this C++ error!:cry:

That's got it installed, but I'm still somehow missing a DLL file: MSVCP711.dll. Do I have to go through the whole thing again or is there some other way I can obtain it?
