Installing BtS

click start
click programs
click accessories
click system tools
set a system restore point
then
click start
click run
type regedit
search for the above key for bts and delete that and only that
close the program
restart the computer
try to install...

edit:
you need to uninstall and reinstall civ4 as well though since the bts installer will not put bts anywhere else then the civ4 install path - so if you want to move from the external drive you need to move civ4 as well...

:(

Didn't work, same problem, admittedly I didn't uninstall CIV4, because I can't I dont have the CD anymore

Damn... this really blows, I'm probably never going to play this game again.. and probably won't be buying Civ 5, since CIV 3 gave me pretty similar problems... In hindsight I haven't had a glitch free game since Civ 2 Gold edition

I did research online and found out that I'm not alone in my problem, and in fact a similar problem surfaced on here, two years ago in fact. The remedy for anyone who has followed to this point, is to get a new CD, and exchange it. So if you're smart keep the receipt and buy local, if you're dumb like me and bought the game when visiting the USA and instantly discarded the receipt.... you're gonna have to buy a new game.

So I did another faulty uninstall of CIV4 when it wouldn't uninstall properly by holding down the I key, deleted the registration, and the files it was in, and eventually it said CIV4 was uninstalled.

I then borrowed a friends copy of CIV4, reinstalled it and Warlords, and then attempted to reinstall my copy of Beyond the Sword, no problems. I don't know how or why. Just figured I'd give an update.
