Since I'm done with the current GOTM and hope to be completing the only SG requiring the GOTM modpacks soon, I'd like to install C3C next weekend. Has anyone done the install of C3C and played a GOTM yet?

What warnings/precautions do you have for me?

Should I move my entire civilizaition directory aside and install from the beginning?

What modpacks should I install and should they go in the PTW or C3C/PTW dierctory?

I have my original Civ III, PTW & C3C disks and internet access to download any patches.

Running Windows 2000 on a Pentium III with 512MB memory and lots (20GB+) of extra disk space.

Thanks to all the techies in advance for any information.

I can't recall any problems with the GoTM setup after installing C3C. C3C installed to a seperate directory parallel to the PTW directory. You should still have your shortcut for PTW and Civ3 vanilla so, if you want to play GoTM, just use the PTW/Civ3 shortcut and the corresponding disc.

There are other threads around the GoTM forum discussing using the PTW version that is packaged with C3C if you don't want to change discs.

Added the following in edit:

Look at Zagnut's thread below. He asked a similar question in "Can the conquests disk be used to play GoTM on PTW?" and received very good support from Justus II.

I have installed Conquests into the root Civ3 path and everything works fine. The only thing I do differetly to everyone else is to run Civ3 PTW and or GOTM games via the PTW CD (ie run the CD and click "Play PTW"

I think this is the thread Grahamiam was referring to.

Can the conquests disk be used to play GoTM on PTW?

I have been running with C3C installed since November, without problems. You just have to make sure that whichever CD you installed PTW from, that is the CD in the drive. I.E., on my computer, I did a clean install of Civ3, then used my C3C disk to install PTW and C3C, and then installed all the GOTM packs. So either PTW or C3C will run off with the C3C CD in the drive. On my wife's computer, I left my original PTW installation, and just installed C3C, which by default creates a Conquests directory off the main Civilization folder. On that computer, to play PTW I must have my original PTW disk in the drive, but C3C obviously still requires the C3C CD. Hope that helps!
