Hey, i just got Civ 3 Gold and i tried to install it (because i think you have to) and i get stuck on 66% and itgives me an error msg saying it cant. Can you guys help me with this? It says on the box that it goes with Windows XP/Me/2000/Vista. I have windows 7.

First thing I would try is to copy the CD to see, if it has errors. If you can copy it, then it does not and should work fine on Win7 as most of us are on that version.

Run the install as admin and use the run as as XP.

Many tools out there. Google copy CD and snap a list of tools. I could mention some by name, by that may be against policy here.

With the Cd in the drive, go to the start menu. Find the drive and open it. Look for the setup and right click it. Select properties and find run as admin.

I do not know what that prorgram does, but I would have expected some erorr msg to be assoiciated with the failure. IOW more than just a path.

Wait I see from Google that it is a trojan, whoops.

Haha nice. Well thanks for your help. Do u have the disk or the download? I have the "gold" edition so maybe thats something? i dont know

I have the original Civ 3 and PTW and Conquest CD's. Bought day1 of the release of each. Well actually C3C I pre ordered. I have installed them on all the wiondows platforms, except Vista over the years.

I did see a post on google about Atari having a register app called Atr1, so it may be worth looking around on Google. Running a malware app first and sweep the registry and try installing again.

Go to CNET to find malware apps for free.

So you think that Windows 7 has a problem with that app not being there or is it there and its not working?

What is the full text of the msg? Is it saying error loading or missing or what exactly. There is a lot of information showing up in a Google search. some looks legit others looks dubious.

THis is the first: D:\ATR1.EXE. I then say ignore and it keeps downloading until it gets to 60-66% then it says:
Componet: ATARI_EGEG
File Group: EReg Files [ENGLISH]
File: it has the file but i dont want to type it out.
Error: the system cannot find the file specified.

THis is wat it said. i clicked ok then it shut down the installment proccess

I have Civ 3 complete and tried to install it on our computer (windows 7) fully installed it correctly but when I tried to upload the game the screen would stay completely black, I had already tried the compatibility option but it didn’t work, luckily I have a laptop (also windows 7) so I installed it on there and it works fine with the exception that when I finish a game and the end credits come up the game will suddenly shut down. I would like to spare up space on it though and Install it on my desktop but have found no way yet.

What is the desktop setting? The game wants to default to 1024, that may be an issue for some monitors. Set the ini to keepres or Video= to some other value.

My settings on the computer, the recommended is 1366 x 768. I have tried changing the screen resolution before to something like 800 x 600 with no result, it might just be the graphics card on that computer.
