Instant karma got my mom

Yes you can, it resides in the mind. And I don't know about that modem bit but I am the only person to experience my consciousness.
If you and me go to a well, and each draws a cup of water, is the water in your cup in any way different from the water in mine?
As the future and past don't exist then I guess consciousness is a stateless environment like the internet.
Its greater than the sum of its parts.
I don't see how exists anywhere outside our brain balls though.
A television would most likely think the same way about television shows.

Yes, look what happened to my thread.

Ah. You must be on a 56K;)

Heh.

Syntax Error

Seriously though, cups of water and TVs asside when you talk about consciousness and modems and the like do you mean that my consciousness is out there somewhere? Or its in my head and then floats away when when I die? Does someone have to drill a hole in my skull to let it out?

too me all this "next life" stuff is rubbish. when we die, we die. no comming back/heaven/etc

Btw, 'instant karma' is not just when it happens 'really fast'. Karma is something that is accumulated over a lifetime, and takes effect on the next life. Instant karma takes effect within one lifetime (but, I suppose, could be 'really fast').

I also agree that instant karma does not exist. I have done alot of great things, and only crappy stuff happens to me :)

The brain is an interface used by Consciousness to interact with this universe. But if you insist, we'll drill a hole in your head anyway.

If that's the only information you have to guess on, no guess is possible, because there are about eight or nine different answers (all different and mutually irreconcilable) you can give and still be Hindu.

:p

I'd expect something non-positivist, and that's all that matters.

Aha! A Samkhyavadin!

As an Advaitin, let me ask you this: if the brain is used as an interface between consciousness and the material world, then how does consciousness interface with the brain, the brain being material?

This one question was the undoing of Samkhya. ;)

A better analogy would be that all computers are the brain, not just one.

There is no karma. There is no reincarnation.

 I won't argue reincarnation, but if you can say something as silly as "there is no karma" you're just showing that you really don't understand the concept. You don't argue with gravity because you know what it means. If you knew what karma means, you'd have a hard time arguing it. It requires absolutely no religious belief or leaps of faith at all, no more than gravity does.

If something happens and then another thing happens and there is a link of somekind thats just corellation, nothing more.

If there's something really big and something else near it and they fall into each other, that's just falling, nothing more.

It's not oogy-boogy. I've probably got a more secular perspective than aneeshm on it, but the underlying idea is as fundamental and as obvious as the laws of thermodynamics. Would you also like to argue that there's no such thing as entropy?

Hopefully you're familiar with karma... what goes around comes around.. instant karma is when it happens very quickly

Okay, well my mom... she was making fun of my musicin the car, about 2 minutes later she drives through a big puddle and gets a faceful of water!

Has anythig like this ever happened to you?

What comes around and goes around is just coincidence. Very rarely does it happen like what you said unless the person is doing something very stupid.

But still pretty funny though. ;)

go on then...

I will refrain from giving a lecture on the concept of karma.
I might need a bit of Karma 101 since I am intergrating Buddhist Philosophy into my life .

You can PM me the details if you wish.

Do you just take random beilef sets from different religions, no matter how illogical, pointless, or incompatible they are and stick them into catholicism?

You might as well beileve in Astrology in fortune telling.

And your evidence supporting this claim is where?
