Instant peace

So supposing the following situation. A is at war with B and has captured two cities, which are flagged as "occupied". Then C captures a city state and an emergency is triggered. A and B both vote for the emergency, which is passed. Now A and B are allied against C, so A and B are instantly at peace. What happens to the captured cities? Are they automatically ceded to A?

I was in a similar situation the other day, but the question of cities didn't arise, as I had razed them instead of capturing them.

Been in the situation a few times but never checked the city status because just too shocked by the situation. Next time it happens I will check. I guess the main question is did I get the additional grievances for having a city ceded to me because they were certainly still my cities and had no occupied status. So the answer is they are mine.
So the cities become A’s and are not occupied but not sure about the grievances.
