Well, I don't know if anyone else has seen this, or even if it really relates to this site or not, but thought I'd report it anyhow.

The same thing has happened to me four or five times today.....

My Norton's will open up, saying that is has caught an internet intrusion attempt. Of course, I always deny it, but it seems odd that this would coincide with the new ads?

I think that it might be the ads because when it happens, the ad banner at the top doesn't load, and the offending URL comtains the word "doubleclick".

Maybe I just don't know much about internet stuff, but I don't see any reason why it should be attempting to acces my comp.

Anyone else seen this?

BTW - Yes, I know I'm still using IE ... been too lazy to change it, though I think I have the motivation now....;)

ainwood can see your IP address, which can never be a good thing :)

but yeah, i'd suggest clicking the little box that says "never bother me with this crap again". you know that norton has your back in any case :)

I can see his IP, and that can't be a good thing.:)

hmm, that gives me an idea.:mischief: j/k. I don't know computer well enough to hack.

Or do I? :mischief:
I don't :( (I mean :) )

I get "intrusion attempts" (perl script flood) when going to some ESPN pages... I guess it's "better safe than sorry".

hehe i didn't even know it was in the pic :)
i was saying that ainwood can see your IP at any time, and that is not a good thing :D

Ah, that explains Ainwood's last post.

Actually, I don't think it was my IP anyhow, but since I'm an idiot user, I figured it couldn't hurt....

my Spybot 1.3 blocks 2 tracking cookies every time I refresh or change pages at CFC. In fact I was just comming to this forum to complain about it, and I saw this thread. :)

I don't like tracking cookies.

Tracking cookies are everywhere on the net. :p Most of them are quiet harmless.

Block the ads. If you block them right, you'll never get a tracking cookie from an advertising third-party.

But if you block the ads, then the site doesn't get the revenue from the downloaded ad......

Kind of a catch-22

Ads are pissing me off for three reaosns:
1. They disrupt the flow of pages
2. They're resorting to tricks that are making me naucous (those animated gifs), scaring the hell out of me (audio ads), attempting to load spyware (it's happened), and double loading times (flash ads)
3. Five ads on one page = no way

Therefore I am blocking all ads and taking back control of my browsing expeirence. I no longer have a big bliniking "Refi" ad when I'm trying to read a news article. Loading pages have been cut dramatically since disabling the ads. And they're not going to load spyware on my computer...

Missed the ovibious ;)
Notice the part in the pic that says "Intruder: localhost" and "Attacked IP: m2.doubleclick.net". It's your comp "attacking" the ad server, not the other way around ;)
