Subset games who made an indie hit in FTL: Faster Than Light (a rogue like set in space that is pure awesome) have released their second game called Into the Breach. I just found it on steam, didn't see any announcements anywhere or anything so not sure if it was a well kept secret or not. But from all accounts it's amazing with a 95% approval on steam, a 91 metacritic with a 7.9 user score.

It has nothing to do with FTL, gameplay or feel. Instead it's a turn based strategy game that looks kind of like advanced wars.

It's only $15, I am definitely grabbing this as soon as I have some free time to dive in. Looks really cool and people are saying it's even more replayable than FTL and easier on the easy difficulties which might make it easier to get into.

Has anyone tried it yet?

That's not COMPLETELY true. There are lore tie-ins and they are not subtle. Gameplay wise it's different as you say.

I'm not sure it's more replayable than FTL, they both seem to have a good amount of replay value. ITB on hard is pretty rough initially, at least for me. I've only had the game a few days though.

FTL could also have some pretty rough beginnings. One thing that both games have in common is that the difficulty varies depending on which random encounter/map you have to deal with at any given time.
XCOM can be frustrating due to the RNG. Into The Breach can be frustrating because you'll sometimes get a mission that's unwinnable after a single mistake. Sometimes you know you screwed up immediately after one move, sometimes you find yourself in a hopeless situation and know "Oh, I shuldn't have done that three turns ago".
It's a really great game, but there are missions where I just take one look at the map and know the timeline is lost, and I feel that some missions are futile no matter what you do.

Dosnt look like Advanced wars D:
