Introduce Yourself!

Hi all. I've been playing Civ4 off and on for about 3 years. Civ4 was my introduction to the Civilization series, which I discovered when I was looking for a new strategy game. Ability-wise, I am a Prince/Monarch single player and still have a lot of room for improvement (Early on, I spent way too much time at the sub-Noble difficulty levels). I also play on the slowish side. It usually takes me a couple of weeks to finish a game.

This is my first experience with multi-player, and I was drawn to this team because I enjoyed Lord Parkin's installment of the ALC series.

In RL, I have a PhD in Molecular Biology and work in academia. I have a wife and a 7 year-old son.

Hello,

I have played Civilization since One. I am not particularly good, but if I watch a MP game, perhaps I'll improve to the point where I can participate to the team's profit.

Hi all,

Singleplayer I win fairly easy on noble. My handicap is that I don't have the patience to micromanage beyond four cities. (I click rapidly through the ages.)
Multiplayer experience consist of PBEM and hotseat with my girl. With email games, wich have a very slow pace, I micromanage a lot more.
I joined this game to learn and have fun ofcourse.

In real life I am an airline pilot from the Netherlands.

Hi,
first I 'm german and my active english is small, my profession is mathematics.

I'm playing civ since 90 without much success especially in C3 (the version I don't like). In 2005 I enter the german webring forum and learn to play in DGs and mps, first C3C then C4. I'm good in analysis and mm (turn to turn). Goals or longtime strategies aren't for me.

Btw
In the last DG I played MS long time alone, also I play in other DGs at GWT and ISDG.

Hi, currently playing BTS at about Emperor/Immortal level. Pretty little multiplayer experience.

In real life, a physics teacher in San Francisco, CA.

Hi,

Another physicist joining. I study Phyiscs (and some Mathematics) and I'm in my second year.
I've got quite a bit of DG experience on this forum, though my activity has gone down a lot since I started university 1,5 year ago.

Hey all!

I mainly like TBS, adventure and simulation games and started the Civ epic with the first one on an AtariST(my avatar, yes. I always built them insted of wasting turns with the warriors). But I stink at them. Do I also need to mention Col and Alpha Centaury? :p

The only time I did MP was with freeciv...once...didn't inhaled. Lucky I was in an island and managed to hold the fort a bit more before someone mopped the floor with me.

I've discovered demogames not to long ago and caught my interest. I'm interested in how you guys/gals manage to gain XP in realtime and the ins and outs of this game. If all fails, I can always claim sexual harassment and leave with the compensation money. ;)

Hello! This will be my second forray into demogames for civ. I worked with DaveShack and some of the rest of you (at least your names look familiar) in DG III. I love Civ games and have played them all since the original Civ game. I currently enjoy the Rise of Mankind mod for Civ-IV-BTS. I've won via every concievable victory condition on nearly every level of play except Emperor and above, where it's just too addictively simple to abbandon everything and go for domination.

I hope that this experience is better than DGIII.

I am also thankful to be allowed to join you what 3-4 months into it?

Hello,

Sorry I haven't introduced myself yet and have basically been a lurker (I blame my recent career changes). I play mostly on Noble or Prince if I'm up to the challenge. I've played since the original Civ (still love the subtitle: "Rome on a 640K day", at least I think that was a subtitle, maybe it was just a nickname).

I'll probably just peek in once in awhile and make a suggestion or two. I think I'd be too afraid to actually do a turn of the mp game. Oh yeah, the only mp I've done is a hot-seat with my friend in Civ3. Actually, I also played a co-op game with a member in the Mac section of the forum (he nick-named me Lysander at one point, google it).

In RL, I'm a student working towards a second bachelor's in chemical biology (my first is in psychology) in Oakland / Berkeley, CA. Recently I decided to do this after becoming disgusted with the IT industry after 3 years of working in it (still do it part-time though, it's good money). I *don't* enjoy long walks on the beach, but I do like hiking in our national parks (never seen any 'free specialists' in them, though :p )

I posted like 3 times in this forum a couple years ago and now I'm back. Lets kick some asses off! :Howard Dean Scream:
