IO5 - Gotta Catch 'Em All!

Hey Brian, GLH could go in Delhi instead, it's got more forests to chop into it.

Oh and just for posterity:

IdiotsOpposite - on deck
Matrix the Kitty
NeilMeister
ParadigmShifter - just played
BrianShanahan - up

Ok probably is better there. Just had a quick scan for best position. If I get enough input on this I'll play tomorrow.

Still needs a lighthouse for GLH, and it's getting late.

We need maths really to chop it.

EDIT: Both the forests in Pewter city north of the jungle are pre-chopped to 1 turn left to completion btw.

700 odd BC, and the chops on Epic aren't that bad before maths (still missing out). The GLH is in my experience a late falling wonder so I think we still have a chance if we prioritise.

I normally play emperor (can cope) or immortal (normally get a battering but win occasionally) and it goes around 500BC or so there.

We're playing Monarch here so put another about 150-200 years on that. It will need chops and calculations. I'm too tired atm, but in the morning I'll try to caclulate it.

We've also got Qin the wonder spammer on our continent.

Ummm, is there a reason that you played from Matrix's save and not mine?

Did I play from the wrong save... sounds like a big oops if that is the case...

Oops... drunk again :(

Do you want me to play from Neil's save or should we carry on?

I ruined the economy but nearly killed Asoka.

EDIT: I'm going to bed now.

If we play on from Neil's save I'll skip, give Brian the save anyway.

I don't mind. From what I can see, the major differences are that:
- I attacked Bombay earlier, and got lucky so no Axes died.
- PS rushed an Axe in Pewter instead of upgrading warrior, so he didn't ruin the economy as much as I did :)

If you don't mind Neil I'll play from PS's turn. Asoka is deader in the 75 years. I'm playing now. Switch to an economy drive, kill Asoka, I'll pass on the Glight as it's 21 turns for Pallet (390 combined hammers less 6*30 chops divided by 10 hpt production, can speed it up but includes micro) and we don't have the workers to bring into Delhi. See you all later.

Forgot to do the autolog, so I'll only be able to give a personal report. But first a guest theme tune:

Link to video.

Right then Turn 130:
I realised we had not deployed our caught pokemon so I let them out for battle (look at the save to see who I chose).
Decided to go binary on research.
Switched production to libraries.

Turn 131
Pewter builds a Galley (please rename to the SS Anne)>Lighthouse
Great general makes a medic 2 (1xp from medic 3) warrior (forgot to rename).

Turn 134
Pewter Lighthouse> Great Lighthouse.
Forces outside Vijayanagara, too cowardly to attack.

Turn 136
Axe>monument in Veridian (Delhi).

Turn 137
Monument>Axe Veridian.

Turn 138
Decide to truce Asoka, need to up the economy.

Turn 139
I have a Blackadder moment:
Spoiler :
Cheeseit1.jpg

I redeclare take the workers and find
Cheeseit2.jpg

Really cheesy but I was too tempted.:mischief:

Turn 140
Squirtle Cover Axe beats Archer 99%
Geodud Cover Axe beats Archer 99%
Scyther CR2 Axe beats Archer 94%

Interturn Geodude dies to archer from Vijay.
Turn 141
Gyarados CR3 Axe attacks hill archer dies at 68%
Whip an axe in Veridian.
Whip a Library in Vermilion (Bombay).

Turn 142
Pallet Library> Lighthouse (switch to workers at 4) and hired scientist.
Machop CR3 Axe beats Archer 72% at Vijay.
Snorlax CR1, Shock Axe beats Archer 59%
Pidgey Cover Axe beats Archer 66.6%
Gary is defeated, and cedes the Kanto Pokemon Championship to Ash.
Veridian Axe>Monument.
Go to 100% research (110g from Vijay says we can afford it)
Vijay becomes Lavendar Town and queues Library

Turn 143
Veridian Monument>Library.

Played 2 more turns but nothing happened.

Thoughts for the future.

1 We will get maths with about 35-40g to spare. But how about going priesthood, and running a few priests to get the shrine up. We can also revolt to Buddhism for happiness.
I dotmapped the free area now that Asoka is gone. The turquise dots are decent sites but not amazing. All other colours are either priority or specialist. They all have tags.
As you can see I changed my mind on the great lighthouse.
We need to explore, maybe send an axe north to find a few trade routes.

Nothing cheesy about free XP.

Don't forget Great General units get free upgrades. We can turn our super-medic into an Axe.

@ Trade routes, unless we build roads, the best way to do this will be with boats.

Cheese was the truce and redeclare next turn . Pity fast workers don't stay fast workers on capture. Ah well.

Yeah I recommend upgrading the medic warrior to an axe in order to get the 1xp needed for woods 3 medic 3. We'll need another war for that though. Great generals don't lose xp when they get their (free) upgrade.

EDIT: Has he got woods 3 or just woods 2 medic 2?

If you didn't give him woods 3, duh... medic 2 is rubbish (only affects units on adjacent tiles).

medic 2 is rubbish, but medic 3 is pretty good.

Woods 3 medic 1 is a lot better than woods 2 medic 2 is what I mean.

Went for the Medic 3 line first, as it's more useful in the long-term, the woodie 3 will obsolete soon.
