You aren't?

Also, GMs are talking behind our backs, for all we know they all support industrial or classical would be too tough to do or require too much complexity.

Never planned to. I learned my lesson already in V and in other games here.

No, that some people will screw up the time period and say they know what they are talking about.

Democracy stinks.

And Mob rule =/= a good game. And classical would be horrible compared to industrial.

Says the person who thinks Obama is a horrible socialist who TEAKS AR JAWBS! (note: slight exaggeration) and loves a crappy, unfair system that only benefits a few people instead of one that helps everyone (not an exaggeration).

EDIT: Double X-Post, and I agree with Cull - At least research where you got something from, make ´special events´ very rare and if someone questions you about something, give them a source from where you got it from.

Well, I don't know much about the earlier eras.

:mischief:

Seriously though, another debate for another day. The only people who are benefited by big government are the big government.

@Taillesskangaru- That's fine. Address WIM considering I'm agreeing with you.

This is what we're trying to address at the moment. It's easier to manage with an Industrial game since we're closer to the modern era.

That's what I figured.

What year are we going to do? I suggest either 1760 for the beginning of the Industrial Revolution or 1776 for the birth of the United States. 1760 would be better though.

We're working to address some of those problems as well ;)

Also we opted for Industrial because it's easier to work with considering how most people play this game (i.e. talk about things in a nationalistic sense, lots of interlacing alliances, diplomatic discussions with nations far apart from one another, colonialism, etc.)

I agree its the best possible option.

If we do classical ever I think we need a new ruleset entirely.

Well, I understand why you're going with the Industrial era, but in my opinion, if you start a historical game, people either understand the era or get the hell out.

:agree:

Also, I'm working on the map for a mini-IOT (a shorter game with smaller map, less territories, hopefully less players) that's set in Mesopotamia. Any thoughts?

You could just put a player/update cap if you want a small game.

I probably wouldn't play though. Mesopotamia is ugh IMO. I would like to play a pre-set countries set during the Migration Period in Western Europe.
