I am just too stupid to hang out on this forum it seems. Almost 60% of you got more than 130 IQ, and I got a 111 (22 years old).
I was going to say it's not tax dollars, but I guess, indirectly, it is. After all, my company was hired by the government to provide software support for USSTRATCOM, so the company is getting government money (= taxpayer money) out of which they pay my salary. And the reason I've had so much free time is I had 6 months in which to accomplish about a month's worth of work. 
The final release of my software was delivered today. The program is now officially in terminal status. Which is why I am training for a new position in Config Management. I have to show that I'm doing something to justify my paycheck.

Hey, if the project gets done on time, it doesn't matter how. If you can do it without burning yourself out and working all day, that's all the better. And if you can do it while moderating the rants of thousands of crazy civ fans, well, that's better still.
I'll never forget the summer I spent "interning" when I pretty much just copied a few papers in the morning and then played freecell until 5. I felt sort of bad about it until my boss made me refile all of his (20 or so) filing cabinets, replacing each individual old folder with new ones because he didn't like how the plastic covers over the little tabs that you write the name of the file on had fallen off. He said they were getting hard to read. I'm not making that up.

Yeah, I tend to think of the *real* military services, first.
Anyway, anyone who has ever seen enlisted berthing on a ship compared to "Officer Country" knows that, while they're on the same ship, they're not on the *same* ship.

hehe, the results of this poll remind me of an article I read about online surveys. According to compiled survey results about 80% of the population are CEO's of their own companies and millionaires to boot
and as stated by others, IQ tests are pretty meaningless tests of intelligence. They grade your ability to take IQ tests pretty well though

I was tested early by a professional due to certain behavioral problems. Apparantly, my behavior made it too hard for the guy to finish my test. What I had done had added up to 135, but he said it was probably more like 165. Websites (REAL reliable sources ) have put it around 150.

Back on topic, it is a well known fact that intelligence tests are by their very nature flawed in measuring intelligence (an abstract concept in itself), and they are flawed in that intelligence is not a useful thing to measure anyway.
The measure of intelligence is flawed because people can predict the questions and learn techniques for answering them.
A good example is the question:
165135 is to peace as 1215225 is to

This is easily answered if you have done these test before and know that numbers are likely to correspond to letters in these types of questons. The only *real* test is the vey first time you see this type of question, do you realise the connection? If so then it shows some lateral thinking. If you've seen this type of thing before, it shows nothing.
There *are* occasionally some interesting questions that are innovative and you will not have seen before, but even then, they tend to test qualities that are totally irrelvant in the real world.
I specialise in abstract mathematics, and I consider myself pretty good at abstract and lateral thinking. This means I score well on these tests.
In real life my ability to abstract situations in to mathematical concepts helps me play strategy games like Civ where all you are really doing is taking a complex mathematical model and finding various optimal paths. I'm not saying I write out equations (well, not all the time), but rather that I see the game as a set of mathmatical rules that need to be understood then exploited.
But in *real* real life (i.e. not in front of a computer game), I fare much worse. Knowing how to abstract concrete rules in to mathematical models does not help me interact with clients, it doesn't stop me getting stressed when I have deadlines at work, it doesn't help me enjoy a night out with my friends. In fact it doesn't really matter much at all, apart from when I go for a job and they give me an aptitude/IQ test.
The point of this rant is that people are actually *proud* of their IQ score, like it is a measure of them as a person. It measures abstract thinking and to a lesser extent lateral thinking, it doesn't measure any useful quality like friendliness, kindness, selfishness, greed, wisdom, consideration of others.
So, I say ditch your IQ score! Edit it out of your posts here, don't use it as a tool to measure yourself, instead consider the things that count in life.

I agree with you that IQ tests are not a "real" measure of "intelligence", and that they mainly focus on abstract ways of thinking. But statistics mean alot to me. I like to know what the various populations of places are, how many people are left handed?,are pampers the softest nappies around? Hence that is why i made this thread. Not to doubt the integrity(im looking for a better word) of IQ tests, but just to see what people got in them. Although feel free to continue discussing the "integrity" of IQ tests
