This may be a noob questions, but I have an iron resource within my boarders (cultural influence) and yet its not showing up as being active (within any of my cities).

I have a mine on it and the mine is connected to a city through a road, and all my cities are connect by road or river. (The mine is not within my city limit, but its within my cultural borders.)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried destroying and rebuilding the mine, but still the iron doesn't show up. I checked to make sure there was no active iron trades, and there isn't. I just do know what to do.

Side notes
Spoiler :
  1. About 6 turns ago I just got out of war, where the enemy temporary took the city closest to the area where the mine is
  2. I am running BUG 4.2 mod, which shouldn't affect anything with resources

Only thing from your description I could possibly guess is there a road on the mine? (Although sounds like there would be ^.^)

You need to build a fortress on it to have the ressource.

not if he already mined it. Does the route from the mine to your capital pass through any enemy territory?

Posting a screenshot would help. Posting a save would be better.

That's what I'm thinking too. The road is probably going through enemy territory. Your workers tend to build the shorter routes to resources, even if they pass through someone else's borders.

Earlier in the game, I had two iron resources, but after a devastating war (one in which I thought had doomed me) I lost my main iron resource. Iron was my only way to survive... after all your suggestions I realized the very simple: I was trading iron.

I know I said I checked, but this was my second run through with BUG, and I had yet to get use to it. Stupid mistake I know, but thanks for all the quick responses.

FYI
Spoiler :
I actually made it a goal to wipe the country (which attacked me) off the face of the globe. Thanks to getting my iron back, I was able to build an army large enough to defeat my foe. It took like 40+ turns, but in the end I became a superpower and won the game through space race victory.
