Its generally not a specific Civ error. Often its a bad driver - I suggest updating your video card driver, and potentially motherboard drivers as well.

Are you getting it frequently? If so, it can sometimes be associated with hardware beginning to fail - but not guaranteed. Google is probably a good place to start for this issue.

Sorry Ainwood, I should have cleared up that it isn't a Civ-specific problem at all (It seems to happen with anything that involves the graphics card). I didn't know this forum existed :D

Zelig, Am i able to get it for free? and where? and thanks for the response

I really should have put more details in at the start. I have indeed googled for a solution, but I can't seem to find a place to download a new graphics card driver. it's an ASUS EN8600GT Magic (just in case that means anything to anyone :p)

Cheers. We're getting the computer looked at by the guys that sold it to us, so I guess you can close this thread, or delete this thread, or do whatever gets done to obsolete threads :D. But thanks for the help, all.

I had the exact same problem very recently so don't lock this thread. The computer also crashes. I don't know what is causing it but at random times some graphical glitches happen. Which lead me to believe either Ram or Graphic card problem. The event viewer did not help. So i am using 4x2gb DDR2 Memmory and Nvidia 9800 card. Unfortunately i don't have a card strong enough to replace it and still ran Vista to run checks.

What do you think may cause it ?

The Guy I talked to reckoned it's because the driver comes in conflict with the rest, or the card comes in conflict with the rest, or either or the two are sending or receiving instructions properly. in case that helps.

Anyway since , this is a kind of "Personal problems " subforum i feel like i can bump this only on the grounds that people who may have a suggestion , may have missed this thread.
