Is 1.61 patch needed? I'm scared 2 try agn

Just resolved a patch install/ uninstall issue. Had to search and delete files from registry for hours. I never play online - are these patches 1.61 and 1.74really going to improve my game experience? I don't want to risk another installation problem.

no u dont need those patches unless you want to play in multiplayer, im having the same problem with patch 1.74 and i cant figure out how to fix ill tell u if i find out how
