Is Bioshock doing a disservice to old music by playing it while killing mutants?

So did I, but whatever. I think Bioshock would have been better if they had just framed the society as Huxleys "Colony of Alphas" rather then bringing Miss Rands tirades into the light of day.

Bayonetta used a remix of Fly Me to the Moon.

I don't mind using such songs if they fit. Remixes especially.

It broadens the audience and sometimes can be played for laughs.
