Benevolant dictatorship, I agree on that.
Only problem I sometimes have is the lack of a "Code of Law" - it's near impossible for liberal non-native Speakers to understand what is considered "trivial" (mostly religiously related stuff).

That said, I really love the cfc feeling, and I prefer it way over the 2 other sites because of that.
And, I especially want to point out what a great job the mods do here
Can't remember anything not completely justified the current ones did.
And the one that did rule by his own laws retired a while ago...
Btw, is it allowed to discuss about former Moderators? :D

Depends on who you ask actually.

oh lol, a Chris reference again....

*nostalgia sigh*

Sure. Oh, wait...you mean here? Probably not a good idea. ;)

Done is done, I say.

I've got an idea of who you're talking about, and suffice it to say that it's in the past. And in the past it should remain, IMHO. ;)

I reserve the right to run a dictatorship. 'Nuff said. ;) I don't know any site that's truly democratic.

PS: Moved to SF

I've actually counted 2 where the members vote who should be the next moderator...

One was a "pick one out of XYZ users" vote, and the other was a "any user who gets over 67% gets to be a moderator". Seperate polls on the last one.

This place is communist, Admin and mods rule all, we can't do anything about it!

Actually, you can. You can go to another forum. And I don't mean that in a pissy way.

We may rule "with an iron fist", but really, we wouldn't be anything without the posters who come here.

14 mods and one admin 'controlling' (I don't like that, makes it sound wrong) 55,000 users plus...

It's a tyranny led by the great Thunderfall !

Imagine if CFC were communist. We'd have to wait for hours for the page to load. Then we'd have limits as to how many posts per month we can make, and we would have minimum quotas. If we don't make those quotas, we are sent to the "Sid Meier Correctional Facility".

And imagine what the slogan for the mod reviews would be.

"In Soviet CFC, Review watches you!"

Though there would be spectacular rallies in the OT forum, which would be simply named: "Propaganda Discussion". And the only theme for CFC would be a red/communist/soviet theme.

1 Samuel 12:17 I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder...that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness [is] great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD.
Clearly the bible prophecied CFC, TF and the fact the he would ban those who overstepped their bounds.;)

Well, considering we users are consumers with options, not citizens under coersion, Thunderfall is really a CEO, not a despot.

I suppose wikis (for example, Wikipedia ) come very close.

or - as some very wise person once put it - "Democracy is in the eye of the beholder."

"One man's Democracy is another man's Dictatorship."

Hmm . ..

Benevolent dictatorship, assisted by a layer of hand-picked (sometimes not very willing) assistants.

This is a private site run by TF. He spends the most time, effort maintaining it, as well as seeking the sponsor to host it. ;)

Hours of work for no pay; putting up with some of the most irritating/whiny/trollish/flaming correspondence this side of the galaxy... It ain't no Heaven. :crazyeye: :p

I guess you do have a point. However, with that attitude I find it amazying that so many people would still take your position in a heart-beat if you ever left it. :crazyeye:
