EU3 is definitely NOT better than EU2.

People who say they prefer EU2 usually don't prefer vanilla EU2 to vanilla EU3, but fully-patched, fully-modded EU2 to vanilla EU3. Vanilla EU3 is a lot more stable, a lot less buggy, all in all more playable than vanilla EU2. However, EU2 has the advantage of having been patched and modded for 6-7 years. When EU3 reaches the same age, I have no doubt it will compare very well to the EU2 of now - in fact, in my opinion it's already much better. Check out some of the mods for EU3 like Magna Mundi.

By the way, Paradox just announced a new expansion for EU3 which seems to address most of the criticism:

I didn't like EU3, but that's largely because it ran too slow and I'm impatient. Many of the new features I'm rather fond of, even if it could do with a few more historical events

I know it's fussy but in EU2 the days flicked by several in a second wheras in EU3 it took a couple of seconds to get through a day on the highest speed setting- it soon adds up when there's 300 years to get through!

I got the game itself from amazon marketplace, and the expansion I downloaded from Gamersgate. Gamersgate seems to be their preffered method of releasing expansions.

One of it's main selling points is that you can start the game at any point during the 300 years and choose any nation. So you could choose to start it at a point where Greece is doing well and lay as them.

I prefer EU2 myself, but I do enjoy EU3. I think Paradox still need to fine-tune their new 3D-engine thingy, but I trust they'll do it. I'm still looking forward to Rome.

I did....but then I got Victoria so i've been a bit distracted with that Will go back to EU3 for a game upon completion of my first attempt at Victoria! My first try with EU3 ended with me ignoring inflation and thus falling way behind everyone else

Well you pay in euro's, so use an online currency converter. When you go to purchase soemthing it gives you an option for either using a credit card or paypal to pay.
