does the ability to grant wooden golems the ability to cast Fireball (Blasting Workshop) seem like a bad idea? :p:crazyeye:

or vampiric Valins and Spheners

But really its kinda trivial so I just close one eye to them~ ;)

Is it just me, or does the ability to grant fleshy mages the ability to cast Fireball seem like a bad idea? I mean, flesh burns pretty easily and everything....

Well, since golems are made and maintained by magic, it seems odd for fire to be used by wood golems. Seems out of theme to me. Idk.
It doesn't seem consistent with bein a golem. Cuz a golem is a created construct. And yet, it's creating a fireball? WTH?!!!
But it makes sense for mages to have fireballs. Y? Cuz they have the training required to cast fireballs. Furthermore, in most stories/games involving magic, when a mage makes a fireball, s/he summons it above their hand. And most mages are as affected by things such as heat as badly as normal humans. In fact, it usually takes a lot to bring down a mage. (Unless you manage to stick a dagger or sword in them.) At least, that seems to be my experience by reading fantasy books and playing fantasy games.

Whenever I'm playing I think that the golem has some sort of rune on it's hand and when it determines the need to fling a fireball the rune activates and fire comes out.

Is the rune fireproof? Cuz, ya know, ink (and even rock) will burn under extreme heat. lol.

I think of it as carved in and the fire shoots out at a rapid speed towards what ever the golem happens to be pointing at. Think of it kinda like a magical RPG. It doesn't burn due to the actual contact is a millisecond or less.

a fireball is created where the caster wants it to, it doesn't spring from his/her hands like a ray.

Or the fireball is conjured ( 5-6 feet) in front of the rune, much like a caster wouldn't have to be close to the fireball when he conjures it. Perhaps since the upgrade requires an entire workshop, the upgrade is more complex than a rune and requires an assembly of some sort. Maybe it's a shoulder mounted ceramic tube or it could be a magically reinforced wooden launcher on the golem's hand. The explanations are endless.

Airight. I spose that makes sense.
