They say only God can create a random number. I guess that goes for CiV maps as well.

yep, 7 out of 10 are archipelago for me, 2 out of 10 continents, the rest... well... you know.

Hmmm... interesting...

I used to get quite a few archipelagos to begin with, but more recently they have been rare... my present game seems to be fractal, with 2 fractal continents. Variations of 2 continents are now the most common.

But so predictable... the whole reason to go random is to get something different.

I nearly always get archipelago on random, I also always seem to end up with the same civs when I do random civs, 4 out of my last 10 have been japan...

Just shows it is random, I've only had Japan once in about the last 50 games.

Random doesn't mean you'll get an even split of all the map types.

You'd need to set up 100 times before the numbers would be lined up most likely...

I have like 600 hours played ... and in my experience, either in the first "quick" play or the advanced setup. Random is seriously arch maps like at LEAST 7/10 times

I finally came up with a new random map. I have my wife flip a coin (for either pangaea or continents) and start the game w/o telling me what it was.
