Having problems running the videos and the in-game screen just stays totally black when I try and explore the map...

You an a few others too. My Son's Laptop is only two years old...BUT...it has a GeForce to Go 420 32Mb "card". That and his 512Mb of PC2100 ram is holding him up. I just bought him two sticks of PC2100 2x512Mb ram so we can get it to max for that Satellite Toshiba with a 2.4Ghz chipset. hopefully when he comes home from college in a week for the holidays we can fix him up.

For you I would suggest doubling your ram. If your laptop is like my son's then you might have to buy all new chips. (Of course Toshiba put in 2x256Mb chips that are useless to me...upgrade wise.) Your video card is newer then my son's you might have some luck there with the Driver Fest everyone is having over this game....that part is a Crap Shoot.
