History gives no real possibility of this happening. I don't game plan on the 1%. Exactly how many democratic regimes degenerated into dictatorships? One? Ever? I know Chavez is trying, but he hasn't quite managed yet.

Plenty of democratic regimes have been couped by the military, fall into civil war, or power is abused and amassed by a single individual. I don't even really need to give specific examples when there's Latin America and Africa - a good number of those states were founded as democratic regimes, but became dictatorships later on. Not even that is necessary to give examples, as the most obvious example of a democratic regime degenerating into a dictatorship is Weimer Republic Germany and many of the other fascist or authortarian states created before WW2, such as Spain, Austria, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, etc. Thailand is having serious problems right now as well.

It takes more than installing a democracy for a nation to become a stable liberal democracy.

Well, i didn't know you were such a defender of Mugabe and Chavez.

Despite how you interpret the constitution, it still states Americans have these rights, not the world. Yes it is being selfish, and it is our right to do so, I'm only concerned about my family and my countrymen, the rest of the world is just too irational and uncivilized to be worth our time. Democracy experiments in Africa and eleswhere have more often than not ended up in disaster and genocide, not worth wasting American lives over.

Well well, uppity colonials with a superiority complex are fun to watch at the local zoo, but they shouldn't dictate world policy.

And on the subject of Iran: I said it before and i say it again. Export more gangsta music to iran. alternatively, let the pressure of Iran and their youth will change the country in 20-30 years.

Screw regime change, if Iran gets close to building a nuke we should just bomb them into the stone age. There is no need to send in troops to remove the regime, it will be quite harmless and unable to build nukes if we take out Irans entire infrastructure.

I think a nation that is threatening to "bomb another nation into the stone age" should be bombed into the pre-stone age, otherwise world peace would be in great danger . We need to make sure every single factory, building, bridge etc is destroyed to ashes. Oh maybe some tens of thousands may die, but they should just blame people among themselves that were advocating bombing other people
