For the last couple of weeks, Ive been wondering whether to bite the bullet and buy a laptop that will run civ Iv. Being a year or so after the initial Civ iv release, I thought I would type civilization v into google, to hear the latest vibe.

Not a lot out there yet! Strange I thought usually after a civ release someone banging on about what the next version should have in it.

Upon further digging I see Sid is releasing a version end of 2008 for all the next gen consoles including the DS, but no mention of the pc!!

Is it me, or does anyone get the feeling Sid sees the Civ future, one without the PC?

If anyone has any info about if Sid is going to do a civ 5 for the pc, please spill.

Not really. Many companies put their games on multiple platforms. I believe even Civ1 made an appearance on the NES at one time.

I think I remember something about this, I think, wasn't it slightly less complex than Civ4 or something?

Strategy games for consoles require simplified controls and mechanics, otherwise they would be too complex to play with a controller (as apposed to a mouse + keyboard).

I doubt that Sid would stop creating games for the PC, I feel that he's just taking time to bring the console-only games into the Civilization mix.

It's too early to have a Civ 5, it's usually around 4-5 years before a new civ on the PC arrives.
