Is the Bin Laden video for real?

when does personal opinion end and propaganda begin?

Bush IS a good person, and the Taliban is bad. We, America and our Allies, are the good -- all that is decent and civil in the world.

The Taliban is evil.

This is not propaganda, this is simply the truth, and whether you choose to accept it is your own responsibility.
Ah, American chest-thumping again? I, America, is good, while you, not-America, is bad. Bad, bad, bad. <thumps chest>

Would it particularly shock you that non-Americans not allied with America can also be good and decent??? You know people like me?

Although I'll have to agree with you that the Taliban, as a political and military force, shld be uprooted and destroyed. Vermin. :goodjob:

Well here we go again the ostrichs are in denial again and so the heads go back into the sand.

A certain amount of cynicism is healthy, carried to excess it represents a failure to confront reality.

There are of course those whose view of the world is so bound up with ideology, religion or nationalism that they will never accept the truth of the situation until their own life, or a loved one's is blown away by terrorists.

There really were two reasons why I posted this thread. First reason was that I was interested in your thoughts on the subject that the video would be fake or not. The other reason was that I wanted to see if the people who always have supported the US and its actions in the past were going to have different opinions than the people who are more critical towards the US. Well obvious it is the case and what I find quite shocking is that the tendency in some posts is that when you don't believe the video is real you are an enemy of the US.
I don't think this should be said. Personally I think Bin Laden is responsible for the WTC crash and he should be punished for that. On the other hand I have serious doubts on the video. As said by others, why is he at once not in a cave anymore surrounded with his guns, change of image??? I don't think so. Maybe I'm wrong (I hope that I am wrong) but if it is being found out the video is a fake, all hell will break loose. I hope Bush hasn't been such a fool to order to make this video, otherwise he is the fool I always held him to be. :(
As a last remark I would like to say that I really don't believe the media anymore. There is propaganda coming from all sides, both the US and their enemy so the media cannot be considered being objective anymore as the information they are getting is always subjective.
So don't always believe media hypes or government propaganda but believe your own common sense!

The tape is probably not a fake, here's why:

Can anyone honestly think of a good reason why the US government would release a falsified tape NOW (now that war in Afghanistan is essentially completed) months after it would have been useful in creating an international impact?

***
If the government was going to release a false tape, wouldn't they have done so BEFORE going to war? If you want to use this fake tape for good press, you usually do so when the press matters, not after the international press is made irrelevant by action.
***

If anyone can think of a good explanation for this, I'd be willing to listen.

One reason to release it now could be that since they have lost Usama, they need 100% support to cach him whereever he`s hiding.

I dont think that neither the americans nor the allies would be as willing to go to war with Iraq (e.g.) to find Usama (if he was hiding there) as they were with Pakistan.

With this tape they now have proof that he did it, and can proceed their war on terror... The attacks on Afghanistan started so near 911 that the entire world was still in shock.. Now people want evidence!
