Is the opening video problem an issue with my hardware?

Hello all, I got a laptop and Civ 5 for Christmas. The game plays OK on my laptop, but the opening video won’t work correctly. It stops/starts again , is out of sync, etc. I disabled the video per some recommendations I found on this site, but it still bothers me that the video won’t play.

My laptop is an Alienware, so I’d like to think it’s not a problem with my hardware. However, I am total computer noob-- so I have no idea. Could someone take a look at my specs below and let me know if it is indeed a problem with my hardware or not? (And if not, maybe something I could try to get the video working correctly)

Processor-Intel Core i3 370M 2.4Ghz (3MB Cache)
4GB Dual Channel Memory (2X 2GB DDR3
15.6-inch Wide FHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
1GB DDR3 ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5730
500GB SATA11 7,200RPM

My operating system is Windows 7.

Also, I’m new to this site, so hello everyone! I started with Civ Rev on the Xbox 360, so I’m still new to PC Civ. However, I may hit some of you guys up for online matches once I get my skills up!

Welcome to CFC :).

Your system is aroud the recommend specifications (if i look right at the graphics card), so it's probably not a hardware issue.

Might be worth to check the video directly without civ, but i have no idea where the file could be located :dunno:.
