Have any of you noticed that the the English royals were descended of the Byzantine Emperors in the 1300s? Check Edward III's ancestry, his line goes through many French/Spanish/German lines until he gets to Alexios I Komnenos, Roman (Eastern Roman) "Byzantine" Emperor.

Which works because Elizabeth II is descended from Henry VII and his wife Elizabeth of York, both of whom were descended from Edward III.

Check this out! According to this tree, the English Royal Family IS connected to the Byzantines, and more importantly, the ancient Persian monarchy (think Xerxes I) The only problem in the chain is the dispute over Charles-Constantine's parentage. Anna (daughter of a Byzantine emperor) can not be absolutely confirmed as his mother, but it's still a possibility.

The Byzantine emperors are listed as being born in "Constantinople, Turkey" and Henry I as being married in "Westminister, Middlesex, England". The level of scholarly accuracy here is somewhat in dispute.
