I'd like to view the secret project movies outside of the game (especially those of the Ascetic Virtues, the Voice of Planet and the Singularity Inductor) because they just are too cool. But they have a strange extension (.wve) and I have no idea which program to use! Does anyone here know?

....That's a wave file, I think.

Just double click on the file in windows explorer (something like mycomputer/c:/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri/movies)

... Argh, don't know a program that could play it, Windows media player can't play it.

Yes, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

Just rename any of those files to be the into file and you'll see it instead of the intro.

Use playuv15.exe, found in the Movies subfolder of your main Alpha Centauri folder. Run it from a command prompt. For example,

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri\movies>playuv15.exe hunterSeeker.wve

Or, since the movie files are in the same folder, simply drag the .wve files directly onto the .exe.

I've found an even simpler method: simply right-click while holding the SHIFT key (or simply right-click) and choose "Open with...", then select the playuv15.exe file and choose "Always open files of this type with this program"
[note that I work with a Dutch version of Windows and not an English version - I don't know the proper terms in English Windows so I put direct translations here...]

Thanks for the help, by the way!! I completely overlooked the file when I first browsed the folder.

In case anyone is still interested, I believe most, if not all, have been posted to youtube.

Easiest way to watch them:
1. start AC
2. start a new game
3. go to scenario edit mode (ctrl+K, if I remember correctly)
4. there's an option to watch the movies in the editor. go and look for it :)
