[BTS] Is there any way to get a new language's audio (tech quotes) via Steam?

I'm trying to learn French, and I think hearing an audio translation of the quotes I know so well from thousands of hours playing Civ IV would really help. But after changing the game's language, I found that it doesn't change the audio files, and there's nothing in the "Properties" menu on steam. Am I just SOL, or is there some workaround?

Unless someone modded the quotes specifically, I think you're out of luck. I don't think Firaxis had Nimoy read the quotes in French (or German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, etc) and I believe the units all say things in their own language when you click on them. So, play as De Gaulle, Louis or Nappy, I guess?

Not Nimoy, but I'm sure that the other languages' audio files exist somewhere. I've seen a French streamer play with French quotes. But I wonder if you just need a French copy of the game... that would be a real shame if so.

The CD version of the base game had the tech quotes recorded in five different languages, and the files are placed during installation depending of which language you choose for the installer. Changing the language in-game is just for text, not audio. The Steam version only comes with the english files, as far as I'm aware.

The expansions only had the new tech quotes in english if I'm not mistaken, and those were recorded by Sid Meier itself, not by Leonard Nimoy, so you won't find them in any other language.

I can send you the french files if you want, which then you can place inside your assets/sounds/tech folder. I don't know if I can put the files directly here on the forums, but I can send them via PM. Let me know.
