Is there any way to make jungles choppable earlier?

Mayans are severely hampered by the jungle taking up 50% of the available land they can expand to without stability penalties (according to stab. map). Maximum of 3 cities unless they wipe the Aztec .. but at least their UHV is possible now, the temple is very low priority for the AI it seems \0/

All other civilizations would become immensely powerful from an earlier jungle clearing though, just imagine Portugal in SA if they could clear it upon arrival *shudder*.

Actually Maya (and every other civ) suffer no stability penalties up to their 32nd tile controlled, regardless of where it is.

Given this, I routinely send my second settler to found on the New Orleans location without fear of anything going wrong stability wise.

It's very easy. Go to CIVFeatureInfos.xml in RFC's Assets' Terrain folder, open the said file in a notepad program and search for JUNGLE. Then search for '<bNoCity>1</bNoCity>' (just 'nocity' is fine) and change the '1' value to '0'. Now you can clear subtropical India by founding cities and leaving them wide open for barbarian war elephants' intoxicated plunder raids. :king:
I'm embarrassed. Looking at my Civ4FeaturesInfos.xml I see that I've already done this. I'm not sure if I ever tested it though.

Its gonna be hell to transfer all my changes to the next version, as I've totally lost track of what changes I've actually made...

Yeah very frustrating to have to settle Dabao as Japan in the phillipines rather than the juicy spot in the center.

I like the idea of Jungle being a little more restrictive (It protects India and Khmer from invasion) but Biology does seem ridiculous.
