IIRC I think Hattie is one of the very few who simply will not war with you at Pleased, unlike certain others (Hannibal for starters, I hate that guy). Great neighbor.

oh she's so sweet! i feel guilty taking advantage of her. here's how bad it is ... hubby will sometimes be in the room, but not looking at my screen, and hear me do some kind of sigh. i don't consciously know what kind of sigh it is, but he laughs and says "you just had to deny hatty something didn't you?" and it's true! he can tell without even looking at the game, specifically about her! oh, the guilt. shame on me, but i keep doing it, since i know she's so forgiving later.

hatty is definately one to pursue if you are looking for a bff, you can even double-cross her and she'll only scowl at you once until you give her something (egyptians really like gold) and then she's back to winking and smiling. what's really fun is to play Rameses and make her your neighbor. kissing cousins all the way. IRL, the pharohs were into that sort of thing.

but if you are looking for that extra tinge of excitement, dump Izzy and go for Catherine. She knows how to play a game of cards and she's always got the upperhand. she'll whip you with her hair and then slap you, sooner or later you'll come crawling back, I always do.

one of my favorite pastimes is to play as Gilgamesh and put Hatty, Izzy, Cathy, Lizzie and Boudy in the game. Love triangles and harems and cat fights, oh my

The historical Elizabeth had to be very cool simply to stay alive. As a young girl, she barely escaped getting executed by her mad half-sister Mary (a sort of Isabella clone) a couple of times, and later on there were several plots against her life.

Isabella is so annoying it is a pure marvel, but in the few games where she happened to like me (we shared the same religion and were allies), she gazed at me with adoring, soulful, romantic eyes - very seductive.

I think Justinian is a sourpuss, but I dont think he looks effeminate. Pacal, on the other hand, looks like something from another planet. He's a good player, though. The other day, I was engaged in a space race with Pericles and Asoka, and then Pacal sneaked a culture victory past us! I never noticed what was going on, being too focused on the space race. Mind you, even if I had I wouldn't have tried to stop him by attacking him; I have certain self-imposed rules, and one of them is not to sabotage space victories by military means or using spies to destroy the building process. Now I'll have to observe the same rule with regard to culture victories as well.

Well, OK - if we are talking about an old enemy I have reason to hate, I might use spies for sabotage. But Pacal was an old friend; doublecrossing such in the late game is a no-no for me.
