Isn't anyone bothered by the humor in Civ4 and 3?

LOL my favourite one was Hannibal: "Contrary to what my enemies say, I am not a cannibal", or something along those lines

Personally, I like the humour in the Civ series, I think it's good the game doesn't take itself too seriously - so far the humour makes the game more enjoyable without getting in the way :)

I once got: Japan(Furious): "All your base are belong to us!"
I've never seen that, thats amazing!
I don't have any problem whatsoever with the CivIII leaderheads... I think the CivIV ones are a LOT goofier personally. They look like caricatures.

Civ3 had a really unserious tone throughout the game when it came to dialogue with the other civs and recommendations from advisors. Based on the walkthrough, Civ4 will have it as well. I mean Caesar saying "care for a sallad? I made it myself" and Ghandi saying something like "We respect all our neighbors, even the really annoying ones like you!" doesn't exactly give it the feel of an epic, historical experience.

It doesn't bother me personally, but I'm surprised I've never seen anyone complain about it, ever. Surely there must be SOMEONE who wants 100% seriousness throughout the game and who is highly offended by what Sid has done, thus boycotting the game using it as a valid excuse to play it for free instead?
Then why do you care?

If someone actually complained I would have to tell them to "Cry more noob." or maybe "Its fine, learn to play." in the spirit of the game I recently quit playing.

I actually like the humour, nothing like a A.I leader making some stupid threats.

Explore the space, I can't get enough of this cowbell:D

Speaking of which, a Thrall head coming out with some wacky put downs would be pretty neat :)

The picture on the Heroic Epic graphic is the Bull of Heaven, from the Epic of Gilgamesh. I'm not sure why that's stupid...
I always assumed it was Babe, Paul Bunyun's pet Bull.

I liked the wonder graphics in Civ 3. How else would you represent Magellan's Voayge? That playground was always fun to see.

I see nothing wrong in the humor. It dosn't affect gameplay at all, and it's nice to remember it's just a game... especially when you lose.

I find it sad, that just reading that, that half of us already know the game you are talking about.

And launch every cowbell for great justice.

im confused... I think im the only one who has no clue in hell wat a cowbell is.
Sorry for disrupting the flow here, but Id really like to understand that.

Humor makes the game have a more inviting feel too it, and makes it feel like what it is, a game meant to be enjoyed.

To Esdawg01: The cowbell....I think explaining would ruin it, it's a classic SNL sketch where Christopher Walken needs more cowbell :p
