Well I'm at it again.
So throw your ideas/suggestions about an Israeli civ here.
I'm also making a mid east map along with it and it's turning out pretty good, so I say it will be ready soone enough.

My currents are:

- Special unit: Merkava Mk. 4, see related Unit request thread
- Traits: [Scientific/Religious] or [Militaristic/Scientific]. can't choose yet.
- Leader: Ben Gurion. I'll be happy if someone will help me with the leader heads!
- Color: Light blue.
- Agressiveness set to middle, not agressive but not asserting appeasement policies.

Leaders:

* Barak
* Ben-Gal
* David
* Rabin
* Another one I forgot...

I have all of the cities (modern) already sorted up, sorted by population yet Jerusalem is first on the list. obviously

It could promote anti sematism so don't do it. Anti-Sematism is bad for people. Anti-Goyimism (gentiles) is bad too.

Otherwise you need to make a Palestinian Civ which has a Gurilla which has good defense to protect itself from Israeli's attacks. Still Israelis always win against the poor hapless Palestinians even if they have determined defenders.

I didnt want to do a scenario of the current situation, for that is too much complicated and politicaly loaded.
Just an israel civ, like the english (who accidently slaughtered millions in richards crusade... oops), just like the americans (who accidently slaughtered millions of indians... oops), just like the french (who terrorized arabs while conquering north africa... oops)...
you get the idea, we dont have to be political on every civ, dont we?

I find it a great idea to make an Israeli civ.
don't pay attention to some of the "pure souls" on this forums who say rubbish 'bout israel.

As for the armour i guess u mean the Merkavah Tank pic (bad pic yet...) nice idea....
btw the F15-I looks a bit different than the regular F15 coz it has two additional fuel tanks on its wings. The leader for modern israel should be no other than Ben Gurion.

Untill the scenerio editor will be improved i doubt if something can be done, but try to keep beein' open minded. But try to make a map of the middle east. If u need some specific help i might help you.

I think its a great idea to change this game however you want in order to make yourself happy. The customization is one of the best parts of the game and you should customize the game as you see fit.

To the person that said that an Israeli patch would promote "anti Semitism", shut up. Why should anyone hold their tongue because it might create a backlash? Hell, I think that is all the more reason to make the patch.

I think the special unit shouldn't be the American F-15 as there are a lot ot other nice units I could think of.

E.g. "Sayeret Matkal", the Israeli elite commando unit or an improved spy, call it "shabak" or "mossad".

I totally understand the reasons why a jetfighter ( but go with F-4 Phantoms!) or tanks would be excellent UU's for Israel, but I think Commandos would be the perfect choice, if not just to be a little different.

What?? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Well, we'd better get rid of the German civ because of all they've done in the past. And the Americans slaughtered the native peoples, so we'd better get rid of them because that might offend some people. And then the Japanese...the Chinese...the Aztec...the Russians. Oh, and the English...don't want to stir up any bad feelings that might exist with our Irish friends. Better get rid of them too...

Yea, I think as well that the special unit should be the "Mossad" or "Sayeret Matkal". Because the (IMHO) stupid spying system of Civ3 it should be a ground. Same thing about air units system. My suggestions:
* Sayeret Matkal
*Merkava (A very good tank) - but there is the germans' UU...
*Jericho - In real life it's a very long range missile with nuke capatability.

Well now, in Israel every citizen has to go a 3 years Military Training, and "Miluhim". MAybe we should implement it somehow?

ive already done merkavah tank but it looks just like modern armor with blue instead of red on it, heh
about phantoms, maybe we should do the Lavi (it is considered good just unsuccesful, but maybe im wrong), and yes i intended to do Elimination Agents (Mosad) and Matkal (Special Commando) too
keep the idea's flowin, and attach anything that might help and ill keep working on it

BTW I made Israel 'Militaristic' and 'Scientific' cos I figured out that is most suitable. We have a strong military and we are high-teched, heh
I also thought religious would fit but it suc*s so and I didnt want to remove militaristic or scientific.
and I also thought maybe we should make the Temple-house (beit hamikdash) as a world wonder special for this mod?

*Lavi (Jet Fighter thingy)

Well, 2 things:
1) Well, the mode should be a balanced one... And it won't be balanced if the civ' of Israel will have too much special units...
2) I don't think that the "Shabak" unit is an option, 'cause in real world (as you all see, i love my games realistic ) the Israeli "Shabak" is only inside Israel...

I think the only real options are the Merkavah tank or the Matkal commando. This is because the fighter would be too similar to the U.S., and Israel bought these planes forom the U.S. A spy wouldn't make any sense for Israel.

I think Israel should be militaristic and religious even though it stinks because Israel was given as a Jewish Homeland after WWII. All of the wars were religiously based. I don't think Israel should be scientific, because the U.S. supported Israel throughout history of Israel. Israel recieved financial, military and scientific aid from the U.S.

This is also why the spec. unit should be Israeli-made

Israel should only get 1 spec. unit just like other civs

2) Well, Israel self-modded MOST of the planes she bought, and she make planes by her own... And there are planes, like the "Levi" which Israel invented, and so on...
3) Yea, excpet the Mossad is considered as one of the best Intel. agencies in this world

Anyway, about map making, though it's really not neccesary, but if someone making one, there is a problem:
The level of detailing - 'cause Israel is a small country, there is the conflict between normal map with only Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv, or a big map with other cities...

Oh, and about resources, We sure can get a resource map from somewere... (An atlas for sure)

heh actually i meant to choose 1 unit from the list i made, not to make all of them, so i wanted you to help me choose the one.
I dont want israel to be too strong, but I dont want it to be religious cos in current modern ages the religious group might be strong but it doesnt matter the decisions of our military forces or our national agencies and foreign advisors.
today the aurthodox jews may have a strong voice in israel because its country of the 'jews' but basically israel shouldnt be more religious than USA for example.
Also I think we should make israel start with alphabet and writing (maybe even litarture..?) because we have the bible and all that and i think its an original idea
still open for suggestions of course
btw - I have an atlas book of all the countries in the world with each map, a bit of data and history and I also have a very big natinoal geographic atlas so if any1 wants to get a painted sketch of waht resources should be positioned where in israel that shouldnt be a problem.

I hope you're not making the Israel civ to be only based on the modern Israel. The Judaen people (people of Israel) have existed for many thousands years, and they were definetely religious people. They were the people that were in Egypt, Babylon and whose king was Salomon. Really, Israel or at least its people has existed for a long time, not for just bit over 50 years. That's why I think that they should be religious. They were fairly militant during those days, but nowadays they are the most militaristic western democracy.
So, religious/militaristic, with a modern UU.

I totally agrees with SkidiWili (except the "most militaristic" thing, but it don;t have any connection with the mod) the ancient Hebrew people were indeed very religious...
