This thread will be a repository for any relevant issues that come up during the warmup. As the warmup progresses, we'll hopefully learn some useful things about how Civ4 interacts with the democratic process.

Please note, the idea is to highlight things that are likely to be trouble spots in the main demogame so we can be prepared for them. This is not the place for strategy discussions! Anything we add should have been debated already in the appropriate turnset thread.

With luck, we should be able to make a post in the main forum in the run-up to Creation Day, highlighting such issues as world size, game length, number of opponents, etc. Remember that everyone has experience of SP games, so issues that are likely to be obvious should be omitted.

The demogame is currently in the meta-stage - the Government is being put together (out of spare parts from a 1977 Mini Metro :crazyeye: ), the code of laws is being laid down and people are already breaking it. The next part is Creation Day - world size, climate, Civ/leader. As there are so many changes from Civ III in this department, I'm sure we can contribute a great deal of useful information.

So, please post! Where have we unearthed the dino-bones of contention? What will cause big disagreements? Which decisions are no-brainers? Where have we gone wrong? Where have we gone right?

The second and third posts in this thread will act as an index for whatever we come up with. I'll update them when necessary.

Without Form, and Void

The creation of the world could be problematic. There are many new options from Civ3, and some old ones have been renamed. Suggest extra care is taken in all world creation polls to ensure clarity.

Civ selection

Bearing in mind that many players enjoy the whole religion part of the game, I expect a Spiritual Civ will be chosen. An early rush to one or all of the early religions is likely. It's important that we remember we could easily get beaten to them all, and thus waste a lot of valuable early research. A likely source of disagreement.

Forest chops

A great way to get a productivity boost; but health implications later on advise caution. People tend to feel strongly about this one. Advise DPs not to take drastic action in this department without consultation.
