Issues with Civ III and Windows 7

Basically I really wanted to play Civilization 3 again as it was one of my favourite games in the series. Sadly I could not locate my old discs and decided that I couldn't pass up the $5.00 price tag for the Complete Edition on Steam. After Steam downloaded and installed the game. I went to play however the game would not work. The screen would go black after launching the game and then a window popped with "Civ3Complete has stopped working.

I tried numerous times to launch the .exe by using different compatibility options and disabling the dektop composition. I also tried searching for solutions to my issue but I could not find any.

I am currently running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.

My specs are:

Intel i7 720qm
8.00 GB Ram
ATI HD5870

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First I would check to see if an INI was created. If it was and add KeepRes=1. If that does not work, I would try to get the install to run in admin mode and reinstall.

I just wanted to say I did manage to fix this. It was a matter of updating my GFX card drivers. Thank-you for your help though.
