sometimes, the single unique unit rule really sucks.
for instance, who the hell finds that the Numidian Cavalry is the only benefit from the Carthaginians? the strength of their millitary was their navy, their Queenkirremes (is that how you spell it?).
otherly, that horse archer unit really has me angry. maybe horse archers and cataphracts?
underpowered spearman. ew. SPEARMAN were the bases of all ancient millitary. in the game you can hardly use spearman.
underpowered archers. really, these guys too. they should get a like 25% bonus against melee units.
MORE SWORDSMAN UNITS. i say an early swordsman, then one from the dark ages and then another later.
arquebrusiers is also an important unit to be added.
