since the patch the game is soo quiet now. the first game it was a bit disconcerting, but now i have gotten used to it and like it.

some are calling it a bug.. but i wonder if that is true.. or maybe its actually on purpose. because now they can go about redoing the tech tree without having to get new voice work.

anyways.. after hearing them as many times as i have, I actually like this new turn of events.

I will miss the monarchy one about watery tarts, as that one always made me laugh, but the rest i will not miss

I have been having them up through the mid-game. Someone suggested that the bug eliminates the tech/civic pop-up due to you selecting multiple techs or civics. I think that may be true. I don't often do that, but I think mine stopped at the time when I had multiple techs selected.

It seems, that it is not so or not only because of that. I was selecting a single tech/civic at a time, but the quotes stopped anyway. However, in the latest case I noticed, that they stopped once I researched a tech, which was a prerequisite for an already boosted tech.

In my last game, as soon as I got a Eureka to finish a tech, the quotes stopped.

lol I hadn't even noticed. I mean I knew I was bored last night and loaded up a game of V after an hour or not being engaged in VI. It's just a flat experience.

Time to get Sid Meier back in to do some voice overs (he took over from Leonard Nimoy).

I have a new theory: quotes stop as soon as you click one away mid-quote, while SB is still talking.

i hit ESC from the start on them.. i mean.. how many times can you listen to sean tell you his love affair of pigs??

hahaha

Reloading fixes the problem, temporarily. Problem is loading times are outrageous.

I tried letting the quotes play out, but I'm not sure that works. I'll have to do more testing on that.

And I'm one of the few who actually like most of the quotes in this game. I love all the Mark Twain ones, he was genuinely a funny guy. The Vince Lombardi and Chuck Yeager one I like too. Only ones I skip through are the cringeworthy ones like Courtney Cox, the alternate Laser quote isn't much better. I skip through nearly every natural wonder quote at this point, all the natural wonder quotes suck. Seriously though, a quote form the worst character from the tv show Friends? Ugh. They should stay away from quotes from TV stars and movie stars, and radio stars too- I'm looking at you Santana. I also hate the cold war quote, children of the nuclear age can't love? What kind of crap is that. I grew up during the cold war, and I love just fine thank you.

Looks like the silence of Sean Bean quotes are caused by:

1) Tech and civic completed on same turn
2) Beelining or selecting multiple tech / civics.

In my experience, reloading the turn did not fix the issue. I miss Sean Bean despite that horrible quotes and overemphasis on "s" sound.

Apparently, it doesn't. Eventually they stop anyway.

I had that and they were both (tech and civic) read out just ok. Can't remember, if they stopped after that.

Yes, somehow he grew on me too, and when he's suddenly gone, there's too much silence :)
But now I'm already lost for clues.

I was having the opposite problem last night. Every time I'd get both a boost and a civic or tech at the same time, the window for the boost would pop up with the quote for the tech or civic playing and then when I close that window, the same quote plays again with the window for the tech or civic. :crazyeye:
