Pollution is a GIGANTIC pain in the butt!:aargh3:

My guys clean it up the INSTANT it's there, and I get global warming problems. WHAT GIVES???

I was under the impression (having only made a cursory glance at the rule book - like most of us) that pollution has nothing to do with the global warming problem. Rather, it is based upon the number of citizens alive in the world and the amount of deforestation that has occurred.
Whenever I have workers just standing idly around I have them plant forests on any unused plains, grasslands and tundra and haven't yet had a major problem with global warming - I assume the AI's do this too but only to a much lesser extent.

Go into Editor. Terrain.

Change "pollution effect" of each terrain tile to "none". Problem solved.

Actually, pollution is not a significant problem with the game. I'd rate it about 83rd. You should be able to handle it by building enough workers, and the right stuff.

i'm tired of pollution run amok also. I increased city sizes to 8/16 so that cities are larger before they create pollution. many times when i get global warming, i cant find any polluted tiles...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Keep in mind that other civs might not be as dilligent about cleaning up their messes. Nova Scotia might be generating zero pollution but they'll suffer from NE US pollution output just the same.

Remember that global warming in Civ3 is caused by the pollution levels of your cities, not the # of polluted terrain squares like in Civ2.

Global warming has nothing to do with pollution squares on the map; instead, it is determined by the amount of pollution generated by your cities. Also note that global warming caused by another civ's pollution will never occur in territory you control. To solve the problem of pollution, build mass transits and recycling centers in large cities; this will almost completely eliminate pollution. It is also a much better solution than editing the problem out of the game like Zouave does with everything he doesn't like.
