JJ02-The Mystery Variants

I should be able to play tommorrow

I am very busy with end of the year stuff at my school so I did not have any time to make a story just a quick report.
Two main things happened. I took Karakoum though it was not easy, losing 4 swordsmen to 3 archers. immediately after signed peace with Genghis. He is very weak with only two small cities remaining. The cities form a nice buffere against saladin.
We finished construction and went for alphabet. I finished alphabet and discovered Peter already had it. So I did as many trades as possible
Horsback rising for construction
alphabet for mediatation, monotheism and sailing
and one more alphabet trade that I can not rember right now i think
we are still a little behind in tech but are much closer know. We also got the great lighthouse in Karakoum, which should make our economy do much better. I produced a workboat for scouting but not much else of note.
currently researching COL for courthouses and possible trades (only Peter has it)

We are now in the middle point wise, above Quin and Peter but signifgantly below the others

ok pretty uneventful turnset just moving troops to asoka to invade. i think that at the moment all we really need to invade is cats which i was building. i would expect kublai to try to invade again, so left a few troops west.

we have open boarders with saladin. on th war front asoka only seems to have axes on archers but i predict he will have longbows soon and then maces after that.

ps how do you do auto loger.

I was not aware that we wanted a war with Asoka, but it seems we will have one now. Does anyone have any thoughts on technology or other plans?

I have the save. I need to get to sleep soon, tired from traveling, so I will play my turns tomorrow.

I did make some adjustments and sent a chariot to look at Asoka's gold mining city. It is on the plains as I thought, but is defended by a double upgraded city defender longbowman and a spearman. City defense is +50%. With 3 swordsman and a catapult the attack would probably be dicey. I would want to bring up at least one more catapult before attacking. We do have good relations, but Asoka is very dangerous if allowed to peacefully develop, so I am willing to attack, but would like to get some agreement on the plan.

I am pleasantly surprised how we are actually in good shape. All those civs declaring war on us gave me an overly pessimistic attitude. We are actually back to neutral with Saladin.

if we didn't attack asoka then we would really be doomed since we couldn't expand enough and he would n=be dominant on our contient. saladins in a corner and can only expand up along that narrow strech.

and tech wise we were researching COL all my turn but at the end i set it to liturature to leave the GL open its got no turns to it so you can change it.

After performing some tech trades I spent the remainder of the turn collecting the invasion force against Asoka. I attacked on the last turn after getting a second catapult into position. Qin will join us for 550gp, but I have left that decision to the next leader. May the next leader roll over the Indians.

0. Switched Karakorum to a Jewish Temple.
Traded Code of Laws to Alex for Monarchy and 120gp.

thankfully my varriants don't hinder me in this war as they did in khans any guesses what they are?

Wow guys I think I must change my variants they are wayy too unfair. Its too much cities to play like this, it takes an hour just to move everyone to their "place".

bah, to avoid delays I think I should be skipped, because my variants make me do stupid decisions and its very hard to follow.

i checked your hard varriant, it looks hard perhaps one like no units guarding a city.

Sorry guys. I've been too busy to keep up with this thread like I should. Sprite, let's switch your variant. I never meant for it to not be fun. I couldn't get your private message because my inbox was full, but that's been cleared up now.

For everyone's edification, here is Sprite's hard variant in its original form:

(Hard) The Consolidator

Every good general will tell you that strength lies in numbers. You must therefore pool all of your defenses. For every four cities you have, you may only have defenders in one.

Ex 1: You have two cities and your teammate foolishly put one warrior in each. Bah! You must consolidate your defense! Move both warriors into one city.

Ex 2: You have 18 cities. Pick four of them to garrison on turn 0. Immediately move troops to their assignments. No dilly-dallying!

You may also defend non-city tiles, but those count as one of your garrisons. Offensive forces do not count as a garrison. Only stationary troops within your cultural borders count.

However, Sprite, I thought we had switched it to something else. Hadn't we? Go ahead and email me: dan -AT- charlottewebdesigns -dot- net if you'd like to discuss.
