JJ02-The Mystery Variants

New roster:
jeejeep
sand-up
Ralph Jackson-on deck
pigswill
ngraner42

Sand, I hope you con't mind the short time between turns, but I want to keep this moving and I don't think our new players know their variants yet.

Guys, I got the PM on the roster swap. Problem is, there was a lot of debate. I have the original variants, but no record of where they ended up. Do you want the originals?

But that's the problem, Jeep. I don't have the current versions. Only what we started with. Most of the variants were modified by player input. I'll PM the originals and we'll go from there.

sorry i'm going to have to be skipped after playing a turnset of my other game well my internet went wrong and now its painfully i'll tell you when its fixed.

Unfortunately I don't know what my "variant" is properly just yet as although Rex has givne me the original these were chnaged quite significnatly during the game. I have PM'd Sprite for an up to date view and can play when I get it.... Or you can let me decide something reasonable and consistent with the original ones.

Views???

Ralph

Got my variants from Rex T with an addendum that they had evolved. I've PMed him with my interpretation and awaiting his reply.
Edit: Had a reply from Rex T. Go with it, he says.

OK I have formed my own interpretation of the original variants and will look at the game tonight / pose questions / my understadnig of the plan with an aim to play / post Friday so we can get the game moving.

My computer is temperamental at present so may have problems playing; I'll be able to access forum elsewhere if necessary to update you all.
Edit: Obviously after posting this the machine runs fine for the next couple of hours.

The Virgin Queen surveyed her court looking disdainfully down at the supplicants from foreign lands.

Despite having remained single and independent throughout her life she had always attracted, and indeed occasionally welcomed, an attractive suitor or tow. It was a dangerous game wooing the Queen but still many were prepared to risk it as the prize was so great. Being her favourite was a position of considerable power but on losing her interest there was a tendency to literally lose one’s head at the same time.

The Queen was clear in her desire’s. The young man from Greece had been most accommodating recently – and his cheeky grin still made her smile.

Her patience with the calculating bearded Saladin had been exhausted – what was he thinking sending her camels for a Birthday present. An insult that needed to be responded to appropriately and the price would be hard indeed for Arabia to bear.

Peter would wait but if he thought she had forgotten his groping hands during the Royal Ball he was sadly mistaken…… As if she could go for a fat moustachioed buffoon like him. Her invasion of Arabia would make him feel secure whilst she mustered troops on his border – he would soon discover the cost of his cheap thrills at her expense.

Report
We have invaded Arabia and should take Baghdad in a turn or two having catapulted its defences down.

Were producing Military heavily and have a lot of redcoats on Russia’s Borders for the next player to apply the :hammer: with.

Military Tradition in 6 turns at which point we can wipe everybody out.

oh i like the sound of that its ashame really i'll never get to use my hardest wish is actually my easiest varriant.

Got it. Looking at it I'm thinking that if we've started on Saladin we should continue against Saladin who's currently top of the power graph until he's been seriously weakened if not annihilated. We don't want too many living enemies at once.

Sir Quentin, having been appointed chancellor to her supreme majesty Queen Elizabeth, Gloriana of Albion had been summoned to court to account for his term of office. Kneeling respectfully before the Virgin Queen he delivered his report.
"Your Majesty; my term of office has not been without its failures but these have been balanced by some successes. As you know my pre-incumbent Lord Ralph Jackson, Earl of Edinburgh had devised a plan to curb the power of our nearest rival Saladin of Arabia.
Due to the incompetence of our generals our assault on the city of Bagdhad failed with great loss of life in 1643, the survivors being forced to retire south to await reinforcements. These have marched steadfastly from our borders with Russia and are almost in position for another assault. I ordered the construction of seige catapults to assist in their attacks on Saladin's cities so as to sustain a decisive offensive.
In 1652 battalions of redcoats together with some squadrons of knights succeeded in capturing the city of Aden which Saladin had constructed in the midst of our realm.
The Royal Society have been investigating Military Tradition with success, but due to lack of funding have not yet progressed significantly in their study of Chemistry though Mister John Dee remains a driving force in their endeavour.
A Great Artist is awaiting your majesty's patronage in the city of New Sarai.
The religious orders of Hinduism have been clamouring for our support so we asisted them in constructing monasteries to enhance their missionary task.
Whilist I have not achieved the glowing successes of some of your ministers in the past I trust my efforts will meet Your Majesty's approval.
