JOE-07 - Surfer Dudes!

Turn 0 (220)

I assign a lot more scientists and Feud goes to 8 turns.

(IT)

Sury wins the AP vote.

Turn 3 (223)

(IT)

Wishy-Washy Wooden Jowls wants us to cancel deals with ALIEN. No.

Turn 5 (225)

Walls complete in Najran. Eh. I dunno how I missed that. I really don't like walls.

Turn 7 (227)

(IT)

Feudalism completes, set research to Machinery.

Turn 10 (230)

Enfin.

Next steps:
-Guilds
-Bulb PP with a scientist?
-Research RP?
-Bulb Edu/Philo?
-Lib Rifles?
-Research Nat?

Many ideas. Not enough research power.

Ok guys, great news, my life is back on track !!
And i'm more ready then ever to play.

Many possibilities indeed, something towards rifles seems the best option, with the limited power we have.

@FuRRie. Do you want to take it next?

It would for easier for me to play today (coz I'm off work) and you play after.

Whichever way we have unhappy people that can easily be cheered up by redistributing our units. We may be able to pick up machinery from GW in trade and go straight for the standard liberalism-nationalism sling thing.

I'm not sure I'd see guilds as a priority and hope to pick it up in trade later.

To start the set I make a trade with George Cherry-Chopper:
j7b10000.jpg

These techs were pretty widespread by now. Switched research to paper. Hoped for the best with our next great person.

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good:
j7b20000.jpg

GS bulbs philosophy and we found Hinduism in York.

890ad. AP resolution (from Sury) to stop trading with Cherry-Chopper. Abstain.
The Bull smokes the peace pipe with Monte the Bonehead.
We pay 5gp for peace with Bonehead.
Starve Narjan by running an extra scientist.

900. The resolution fails fairly convincingly.

920. "Herbal Tea"? Don't make me laugh.
j7b30000.jpg

For a few gold coins (122) we get a free scientist in Nottingham and some extra research.

940. Cherry-Chopper and Bonehead declare on the Mighty Qin. That should slow things down a bit.

950. Cherry-Chopper makes us an offer we can refuse:
j7b40000.jpg

London market>harbour.
York library>harbour.
Master blacksmith event (we don't have seven cities and it ends with education so probably not worth pursuing).
Paper>Education (25 turns but there should be a GS before then (or it could be a Great Artist!)).

I have taken a look at the save. Good going Pigswill. With GW and Monty at war with Qin we may get the break we need to catch up. I think we should also start collecting some EP so that we can use some spy to help with the next war with Saladin.

BTW I got it for tonight.

I think our only chance of winning this is to survive long enough to get to rifling and nationalism and then draft out an army of redcoats. The next GS bulb after education will be PP which will of course come in useful if we keep working cottages long enough for them to turn into villages. We'll have to research liberalism the long way.

Alright I had a fairly boring turn set.:sleep:

Sury declared on Monty just after I hit enter.

Here are the most exciting things that happened:

You guessed it, it's time to play :deal:.

We got another Great Scientist, I have left him unmoved. We could burn him for Education or maybe build an Academy in London (my vote). Next GP in 11 turns.

Had a look at the save. Liberalism is looking like a one horse race at the moment. GS for academy in London looks a good option.

Okay, consider this a got it.
But i'd like some discussion before I play.
What are the goals for my turnset and what are our longterm goals ?

srry that I did not respond yesterday, girls... ;)

Long term goals: Ride the Surf, Dude :cool:.

Medium term: tech towards rifling and nationalism (via liberalism slingshot). Draft an army (maybe raise some cash first to upgrade existing vets to redcoats). Attack Qin or Sally (whichever looks easier at the time).

Short term: finish education. Maybe go for PP next (burning GS to get it fast) then liberalism. Buildwise we're paying unit maintenance on obselete units so if we're building new units we need to think about deleting the older ones. London could do with a univeristy once education is in.

That's my contribution to the discussion.

:agree: for the most part with pigswill. I think to help with research we should use the GS for an Academy for London and build an University as soon as we get Education. Monty is at war with three AIs so we should have some breathing room until he get squashed. I wish we could build some more EPs so that we could use some spies but I think we need to concentrate on beelining for Rifling and Nationalism to get the army we need to clobber Saladin (or Qin).

I prefer using the GS for an Academy aswell.
I'll play my turns tomorrow, the plan is clear enough.

Played only a few turns, cause i possibly important trade turned up.

T0:
I decide to use the GS for a academy.
T1:
We are the smallest (no kidding :crazyeye:)
Build the Academy in London (BPT 187 -> 219)
T4:
Monte asks OB, I refuse.
London: Courthouse => Spy
Suyavarman comes with this trade:

Theology gives us acces to Theocracy, the 2XP can be very useful for the coming redcoats, and the Gold is always nice.
Thoughts?

Sury's at war with Monte which should slow him down a bit.

We're fairly close to education and Sury would still need philosophy so we should be ok for liberalism. Once we get next GS it would be worth checking how much of PP she would bulb. Overall I'd say take the deal.

If we're thinking about running theocracy at some point then we need to decide on a religion and spread it to all our cities before we adopt theocracy.

I'm asking advice cause the game is in important fase.
I'll continue to play tonight.
I'll keep in account the remarks made.

T0:
Up science to 100% (GPT -36)

T2:
York: Harbor => Market
Trade with Khmer: Theology + 180 Gold for Paper

T3:
Education => Liberalism
London: Spy => University

T5:
Nottingham: Harbor => Courthouse
Najran: Lighthouse => Harbor
