Quotey your up. Please post a got it in the next few hours or pigswill you take it.

Quotey's up in Ping Pong so I'll pinch this one. Should be fairly straightforward at the moment: lib-nat then beeline rifling and hope not to get killed first.

Had a look at the save: Qin's still at war, Sally doesn't have enough on his hands so we should be ok at the moment. London's pretty near its caps, aqueduct will help.

Got It.

Uh, sorry. I always forget to look at the roster. Always. I suppose I'll just swaps with pgswill.

Played a quick ten. Remains uneventful.

1150.
Narjan: send scientists to live in some cottages.
Research 80%. Lib 8 turns -1gpt.

1160.
The Bull wants us to be Buddhist. Decline. (see post-script).
Open borders with Sal.
We get a GS in London.

1170.
Qin asks us to fight Cherry-Chopper. Decline.
AP resolution - fight Bonehead. Decline.

1180.
AP resolution fails.
Cherry-Chopper wants us to stop trading with China. Decline.
Sury wants us to fight Bonehead. Decline.
Qin and Bonehead make peace. (Qin and Cherry-Chopper still fighting).
Make a deal with the BUll: CoL for Lit, 70G and WM.
Sury gets a GE.

1190.
Sury rushes the Sistine Chapel.

1200.
Sury and Bonehead are at peace.
London: uni>aqueduct.

1210 zzz

1220 zzz

1230.
Lib>Nat>PP (15 turns). Burn GS. PP down to 4 turns.
We've lost our fishy in Hastings.

1240.
Qin cancels fish for 5gpt.

1250.
London: aqueduct>bud monastery.

Interesting. The Bull's captured Teno from Bonhehead but remains land-locked. There's no sea passage at either pole. Maybe we could consider being friends with the Bull as we have no conflict of interests in the immediate future.

Techwise I'm wondering about optics to check out if there are any islands. Should be available through trade, as is eng.

In terms of research we need guilds and banking for RP, we'll also need gunpowder at some point. I wonder if we have a chance to get GM from economics, we still have a monopoly on education at the moment. A GM TM would fund a redcoat upgrade..

Anyway. After an impromptu swop Quotey is up.

He might need a save...

Quotey are you going to play? If I do not hear from in the next few hours I will play since I have the day off and no major plans.

I played 18 turns to complete Guilds, Banking and Gunpowder as they were really short. I stopped because a GS was born. We shoulod prolly settle him in London.

If we go for economics before reparts we should get the free GM. Well worth doing imo. Send him on a trade mission to Cahioka.

We can trade for optix and eng with GW, GS would then bulb towards chemistry but we should really be heading towards rifling first, so settling in London is really not a bad idea.

Is it worth seeing if we could generate another GM? Two trade missions would give us a big (upgraded) redcoat army very quickly.

I guess the Sansman is UP.

Its beginning to look as if we might have a chance in this game. Still plenty of time for things to go wrong though.

I have taken a quick look at the save and I agree with Quotey in settling the GS in London. I also think we should do some tech trading, Horse riding could be useful among other tech the AI has and we do not.

I was thinking of making this trade but then I realized we do not have horses so what would be the point??

Civ4ScreenShot0000-2.jpg

I decided that we should build the Stock Exchange for some cash in London. I went through all the cites and reorganized them (hired a bunch of Scientists to help with the research.

London begins: Stock Exchange (10 turns)

This event came up:

Civ4ScreenShot0001-2.jpg

I went with option 2 we could use the EPs. I hope we do not get caught.

Monty asked for this:

Civ4ScreenShot0003-2.jpg

No!

Civ4ScreenShot0004-1.jpg

Voted for SB.

Wanted to see what we could get for Education from Saladin and Sury:

Civ4ScreenShot0005-1.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0006-1.jpg

Traded with Sury.

Other Player Actions:
A Workshop was built near Nottingham
Tech traded to Saladin (Arabia): Education
Tech acquired (trade, lightbulb, hut, espionage): Drama
Tech acquired (trade, lightbulb, hut, espionage): Horseback Riding

:ar15:Heard the War horns, started to panic.

Civ4ScreenShot0007-1.jpg

Other Player Actions:
Saladin (Arabia) declares war on Sitting Bull (Native America)
Qin Shi Huang (China) declares war on Sitting Bull (Native America)
Washington (America) declares war on Sitting Bull (Native America)

Three decided to jump Sitting Bull:

Civ4ScreenShot0008-1.jpg

Oh my, SB is in deep #@$%, I think it may be time to end the friendship.

After End Turn:
Najran's borders expand

Other Player Actions:

After End Turn:
Nottingham finishes: Library

Saladin has gain a city:

Civ4ScreenShot0009-1.jpg

Other Player Actions:
Buddhism has spread: York
Nottingham begins: Market (33 turns)

I think we need to get whatever gold we can from Sitting Bull while we can.

Civ4ScreenShot0010-1.jpg

Other Player Actions:
Tech traded to Sitting Bull (Native America): Drama

Other Player Actions:

After End Turn:
London finishes: Stock Exchange
Najran grows to size 11

Other Player Actions:
London begins: The Taj Mahal (30 turns)
I figure we may as well try for it, no one else has Nationhood so let's see if we can bag a Golden Age to help with the military build up to stomp Saladin.

Other Player Actions:

Desperate??

Civ4ScreenShot0011-1.jpg

Uh, I really do not want to gain any more unnecessary attention from Qin until we can stomp him, so NO!!

After End Turn:
Tech research finished: Replaceable Parts

Sury demanded for this:

Civ4ScreenShot0012-2.jpg

Since we about one tech from Redcoats, No!

SB asked for this:

Civ4ScreenShot0013-1.jpg

Other Player Actions:
Sitting Bull (Native America) and Saladin (Arabia) have signed a peace treaty
Research begun: Rifling (13 Turns)

This happened:

Civ4ScreenShot0014-2.jpg

So Sitting Bull only has two attackers now.

I stopped here so the next player can go to finish Rifling if they choose to.

I'm afraid to say that not pursuing economics and not trying harder for a GM in London were imho sub-optimal decisions (though there's still a decent chance of a GM in London anyway). Discovering rifling is only half of getting a redcoat army. We still need to build the units; either from scratch, by drafting or by upgrading. Without mases of cash upgrading isn't going to be easy leaving us with a bunch of obselete units we're paying maintenance on.

Can I get a small extension on my time to play?
The fastest I can play will be Wednesday night / Thursday morning :)

:hammer2: My apologizes, I knew I should have read over the recent posts to make sure of what to do. I forgot about the fact once we have Rifling we need to upgrade and for that we need money.

Fine with me unless Quotey has an issue.

Played a short round to get us to an even number of turns.

T0:
Up science to 90%

T1:
Washington asks to declare on SB => No
Saladin asks To Cancel OB with SB => Yes, to avoid negative modifiers with other Civs.
Najran: Harbor => Market

T2:
QSH demands Banking => No

T5:
Science to 80% (+1 GPT)

T6:
AP Vote: Stop war against SB => I Vote Yes

T7:
QSH Declares !!!!
.

.
On Washington .
AP Vote Succeeds.

Ragh, I always forget to check the roster... yes, I will play tommorow.

Is it okay if i switch to Buddhism? Means our draftees will start out with 1 promo, and londonees will come out with 2. And do we really need the Taj or more rifles?

Buddism isn't a good switch religion wise, however, it's a smart move for our fradt army, so I say yes.
Taj, it's your call, it could be usefull, but some more Redcoats would be to.

Okay, played the turns but lost the log because i didn't save it. researched Rifling, hit Engineering, Research to 0, put theatres in our cities, and drafted out 2 of them. We might want to research engineering at full to upgrade the cats.

I've got it but I don't really know what to do. Our existing army is well out of date. We could draft a dozen or so redcoats but doing so would cripple our economy for a long time. Cats don't upgrade to trebs. Cats and trebs upgrade to cannon but steel is still quite a long way away and if we're drafting they'll be at least 100 turns away.

Can we make a big enough impact with our current army and drafted redcoats to swing the game in our favour? I'm not convinced but I'm also not sure that there's a better option.
