Joe Strummer, the leader of legendary Seventies punk band The Clash, has died aged 50.
A spokesman for Strummer, real name John Graham Mellor, said the singer died at home on Sunday.

A post mortem examination is to be performed on Monday to confirm the cause of death, which a friend of the singer said was a heart attack.

Police were called to the singer's home, though they said the death was not suspicious.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We believe police did attend as the death at the farmhouse in Broomfield near Bridgwater was sudden."

Oh no! I love The Clash! This is awful! Well hopefully he either went out quite or fightin'.

I wonder if anyone will open a thread at CFC when I kick the bucket... :hmm:

Heard this this morning.

Hard to believe he was 50, I remember the first time I heard the Clash, back in 79.

Man, this is sad. What can I say. I guess we are all getting old. The Clash was a part of my youth, and a very good band.

All things must pass. RIP

My local radio station is playing a Clash/Strummer tribute as I type this. I'm so bummed. The Clash were a huge influence on me, and Joe's new stuff was really interesting. We'll miss you Joe!

Never really liked the music, and certainly not the politics, but it is always a shame when someone dies suddenly at a comparatively young age.

Go Clash, go anarchists!!!
It's bad to lose a vocalist of such important political views and opinions...
"I'm So Bored With The USA" -- a classic... I fell very sad...

Quite ironic, with Strummer himself being quoted as saying that he wasn't into anarchy. :p
