Join a GoK multiplayer game without having the expansion installed?

Does anyone know if it's possible to join a multiplayer game of Civ 5 Gods and Kings without having the expansion installed?

The wierd thing is that Civ V on my computer calls itself Gods and Kings, but i haven't purchased the expansion, and I can't acess any of the new content in single player.

No, you'll only be able to join a multiplayer game with vanilla civ.

Not sure if that's a glitch or deliberate. Burnout Paradise did this deliberately (to advertise the DLC and make people feel bad about not having it, presumably), which was very annoying as it meant having to go through extra menus that were locked unless you owned the DLC.
