Join the Great Hunt at the Marillion

While everybody is nice and quiet with their mouths full I'd like to take a moment to present the first award.

To Great Iguanaman I present this sword of iron...

Shaitan holds up a deadly looking weapon. The blade is acid etched depicting a pack of hounds baiting a bear. The pommel is also engraved with glyphs and the engraving is filled with gold. The grip is of sharkskin, ensuring it will not slip from a sweaty palm. Approx value = 200 gold.

...and this iron shield.

Shaitan holds up an iron bound shield, emblazoned in brilliant colors with the crest minor of Fanatika. Approx value = 125 gold.

Congratulations on winning the first day's hunt. Three cheers for the Great Iguanaman!

Hip. Hip. Hurrah!
Hip. Hip. Hurrah!

Start drinking folks. It's an open bar today. :)

It's been quite a week hasn't it? I haven't riden this much since I was a raw recruit! I would like to thank Shaitan for hosting this hunter's dream of a get together and thank all of you for not egging me as I read my speech. ;)

Gentlemen, we are entering a new era in Fanatican history. A new era that calls for new military leadership. I ask for your support in the upcoming elections as I strive to become the second Military Leader of our great nation.

We have just left the Bronze Age and entered the Iron Age. With Iron swords and spears I shall defend Fanatica. If another nation attacks us or provokes us to war I will take his lands in punishment. I shall expand our borders and keep Fanatika safe by reigning in wild dogs like Montezuma. I shall continue to push for more troops and better weapons. I shall continue to explore the lands around our borders and scout the outlying regions of our enemies. I shall ensure that there is enough space and resources for Fanatican to grow.

These things I will give you if you will give me the great honor of being your next Military Leader.

Thank you.

Excellent speech, CivGeneral. Have a beer on me, and my vote. :)

I'd like to take a minute or two to present the award for our second day's hunt. trader/warrior I give to you this complete suit of iron armor...

Shaitan presents a suit of intricately engraved and enameled iron armor, in ceremonial style but emminently functional. Approx value: 400 gold.

...and this matching helm.

Shaitan holds up a beautifully plumed iron helmet with gold engravings that match the enamel of the armor. Approx value: 100 gold

On the foulest of our hunt days you brought in the largest deer of the entire fest. Congratulations, trader/warrior. Three cheers!

Hip hip, Hurrah!
Hip hip, Hurrah!
Hip hip, Hurrah!

As a bit of a gift to all of my fine friends here, and likely due to the quantity of alcohol I've consumed, I have decided to handle all of the accounts that are due to the Rebel Pub from my own purse. That is, I'm picking up the tab from the first three days as well as today's open bar.

Drink up, my friends!

Barbender, give me a martoonie!

You're quite welcome, Great Iguanaman. It was well deserved.

Our third hero of the hunt was none other than our guest of honor, CivGeneral. For his excellence in the hunt I award this bow...

Shaitan holds up an intricately crafted bow with surface engraving of foxes being chased by hounds. The engraving wraps down the shaft with the foxes themselves forming the weapon grip. Approx value = unknown at this point.

...and this boar spear.

Shaitan lofts a massive spear like the one he used when hunting. It is half again as long as a normal spear and balanced for use on horseback or afoot. The blade is longer and wider and twice as thick as a normal iron spearhead and lacks a cross-stop, allowing a boar to be driven up the shaft as it charges. The surface of the shaft is engraved with boars of all sizes, some charging, some being baited by dogs and others under the hoof. The engraving is filled with gold wire. Approx value = unknown at this point.

With your skill with weapons and courage in battle, you are always welcome as my swordmate.

Three cheers for CivGeneral!

Hip hip, Hurrah!

Friends, Fanatikans, countrymen, lend me your beers.

Seriously, some of you have had way too much already. ;)

All kidding aside...Our government needs a shake up. Our officials are running our country the way they want it and not the way the people want it! We've got regular folk out there polling and debating because the leaders just aren't doing it. And the leaders seem to be ignoring what the people then come up with. It's got to change and I need your help to get that change in motion. I am running for Science Leader and I am (hopefully) about to convince you why you should vote for me.

In a former life (the letters "P" and "H" seem related somehow) I had loads of government experience. I was a vocal supporter of Constitutional reform and an active participant in its revision. Currently I am the richest man in Fanatika. As author and owner of the DFZ I am the person that the majority of Fanatikans go to in order to keep up with the times and stay informed on what is happening.

What does all this have in common? Analysis. It's my specialty. I can focus my attention on details and keep the big picture in view at all times. This enables me to work together with other deptartments in overlap areas which has proven to be critical in the first term. It is extremely critical in the Science Department, which is why I decided to run for the Science Leader position.

All that may make me a good scientist but what makes me a good leader is knowing that the citizens run this country. I think I have the ability to find out which direction our citizens truly want to go and I am able to put my own desires aside and follow the path the citizens point out. As a private citizen I am quite vocal but as a Leader I strive to be impartially neutral and always attempt to present all of the options to the people.

My honorable oponents [waves to Strider and SAAM across the hall] have an edge on me in their youthful enthusiasm. I may be older but, like a fine wine, I have just gotten better with age. ;)

Thank you for your time and your support. And thank you, Shaitan for hosting this Great Hunt and putting us all up at the Marillion. A cheer for Shaitan!

Huzzah!

hey what about me i told tallest tale?? ;)

maybe we can leave this thread open ready for the next hunt we could have

Thanks for the bow and spear Shaitan :). I know I will treasure these items for years to come.

*wonders if he is the only one who does not want to make tons of speechs to get into a office, hire somebody to run his campaign, or insult his fellow campaigners.(and yes... him saying that I ignored citizen's views, is an insult to me)*

*Walks between crowded tables with a beer in one hand and a beef shank in the other, and a huge smile on his face, heading for his original chair...*

Ok, Octavian X . The year is 1070b.c. In actuality the Germans are just migrating in from Scandinavia and ousting the Celts, who have a firm grip on Europe until the Roman Empire comes in. Some say we are still in the Bronze Age, so most of the art is bronze and pottery, which did get painted.

As I was posting instructions in the Turn Chat thread, I realized my mistake. It's 2070bc, as I'm sure I don't have to tell you. So, in light of this discovery, I will just say that the people of Fanatika are about 1,000 years ahead of their time.

*Heads for the bar.*

CivGeneral - You're very welcome. Use them in good health, and to the poor health of your foes.

BCLG100 - I appoint myself the top hunter of the 3 days. After all, I caught the cream of the entire nation! :D

donsig - There sure is an award for the bar hunters. It's an open bar!

Great Iguanaman - They are on your head.
