Joint War - how can I fix it?

If I understand correctly how joint war works right now, it works like this:

PlayerA and I agree to attack PlayerB
30 turns after PlayerA and I sign a peace treaty with PlayerB the "Joint War" expires and I can start another joint war.

THE PROBLEM:
If PlayerA is AI he might never sign a peace treaty with PlayerB which means I will never be able to start another joint war.


What I would like to do (but don't know how):

I would like to add a trigger to "DiplomaticActions.xml" that would
EITHER:
remove "Joint War" from both players when either of them signs a peace treaty with PlayerB.
OR:
If that's too hard, I'd like to make "Joint War" disappear 30 turns after it started
OR:
Allow anyone to start more than one Joint War


I admit however that it's a bit too hard for me so I am looking for some guidance from experienced modders. Alternatively some nice workaround and explanation how joint war actually works and why I dont understand Civs stupid diplomacy.
