Jumpmasters 1A: (Buying) a Stairway to Heaven - C3C 1.22, Emperor

Thanks, Tim.

Almost nothing happened these turns... Two major events only.
Preturn- Good
1
Nothing
IBT- We build the U.N. Everyone goes to SETI Program, but France and the Byzantines try Manhattan Project. Say no to elections.
4
Nothing
IBT-Babylon builds SETI. France builds Manhattan. I don't think they matter too much unless SETI was a prebuild. Nothing to really switch to so I have to waste 445 shields on a Mech Infantry.
Played 5 turns as usual.

Got it...

And here's the log.

0-1840
Rush a lot of commercial buildings to completion, keeping 100K in the kitty.

Shift some workers around to clean up pollution.

France and Babylon still at war.

And then, Theodora attacks in old Sumer, capturing a worker or two and a stray artillery piece.

From then forward it was rushing artillery and a tank in old Sumer, loading some armies, artillery and a loose general in boats and flighting bombers to Sumer.

Built some tanks and airlifted them into Sumer.

War with Theo was strictly defensive. I wasted her fields in her least productive cities, killled her invaders and sunk a flotilla on the way to old Araby. Lost a single tank to a redlined ToW

On the last turn the wicked witch accepted a peace deal but I emptied her treasury for a package of luxuries.

No other events of note. There are lots of Babylonian submarines around, so I built a couple of nuke boats of our own. Just make sure they travel surface with a surface fleet so they don't accidentally trigger another conflict. Still couldn't get a spy into Greece, but did manage to hang Theo's spy.

There are a lot of troops set to land in old Sumeria and even more on the way. At least we will be positioned to hit the French should they get shirty.

Looks like London is going to build a really expensive something as Space Flight was not discovered.

Note: I pulled some rails to balance food production to population in a couple of places where food was +1 and no additional food producing tile was available. So if workers are Shift-A to automate clean up the fields will be railed again.

Looks like I'm up (With G-Man & the Admiral on hiatus) - Any comments, complaints or suggestions are welcomed for the next 12 hours, then I'll start.

Not much to do except wait for the AI to research techs and try to stay peaceful.

Whichever city (London?) was building a prebuild for Apollo Program, do whatever is necessary to make it have as few shields as possible if it's getting close. I don't know how long it'll take for the AI to research Space Flight, but if it isn't soon, we should try to keep the prebuild if we can.

I already pulled the citizens off the mountains, could probably irrigate some grasslands with the workers handy, or put the city on a starvation diet, but I don't think that will cut the shield accumulation enough - palace is due on the IT.

Real life got in the way last night and what started out as a couple of hours at the office supporting a physical inventory has turned into 8+ hours of work. I'm going to try to get to this later tonight, but I might not finish until Sunday. If someone else has an open evening and wants to jump in, go ahead. I'll check back before I start later tonight.

Turn Log 5

Turn 0 – 1850 AD – Slow down palace completion by 8 turns without starving anyone

IBT: Byzantines start Internet

Turn 1 – 1852 AD – Make sure all coastal cities have a defender, remember there are marines available and those empty cities are too tempting for some AI – Trade Rubber to Ottomans for 96gpt – Spend 5642g to steal Miniaturization from Byzantines – Sell Miniaturization for Babylon for 16980g + WM - Trade Miniaturization to Ottoman for 144gpt + 7160g – Trade Miniaturization to Greece for 4030g + 247gpt – Gift everyone 400gpt – Just thought to check and Ottoman & Byzantium are Democracy & rest are Fascism - Babylon & France sign peace and the drums of war are finally silent

IBT: Not much

1854 AD – Turn 2 – Spend 5678g to steal Space Flight from Babylon – Sell Space Flight to France for 4240g + 400gpt – Gift Space Flight to everyone else

IBT: London builds Apollo Program – Decline UN Vote

1856 AD – Turn 3 – Just a little pollution cleaning and troop repositioning

IBT: York builds SS Cockpit – Middleburg builds SS Docking Bay

1858 AD – Turn 4 – Just a little more of the usual – I should note I’m building a few little goodies :nuke: for the subs to carry in case anybody decides to do something stupid

IBT: nada

1860 AD – Turn 5 – Just lots of pollution clean up

After action notes:
1. Keep all coastal cities defended, all of the AI can now build marines\
2. Since I know we can build tactical nukes, so can everyone with uranium
3. York is building an Army as a Space Ship Part pre-build (due in 5)
4. Middleburg is building the Internet as a Space Ship Part pre-build (due in 17)
5. Dover is building a Palace as a Space Ship Part pre-build (due in 20)
6. I’ve got 400gpt going to everyone, so hopefully that’ll keep them researching and not start any wars
7. Our Treasury is at 130,64g with 3150gpt – maybe we should give more the AI to encourage more research
8. Stealing is cheaper than buying, price on both of the ones I stole < 6K, purchase price > 50K
9. Bath is building the SS Engine due in about 5 turns

Note that the zipped file is too big for the attachment system to handle

The ship is in the shipyard, Yah!

Nicely done, denyd.

Roster check:
viper275 - up
Bede - on deck
grahamiam
Admiral Kutzov - on skip until the virus clears up
denyd

Preturn- Can buy Synthetic Fibers from Greece for 56175 gold. Alexander, that's a lot! I'll just steal it instead. Spend about 6000 gold on it. Begin some spaceship parts.
IBT- SS Storage completed in York.
2
Nothing
IBT- Alexander gets caught stealing a world map. You mean he doesn't know about the whole world yet?
4
Nothing
IBT-SS Engine completed.

We have 141245 gold and make 3312 gold per turn. Internet prebuild in York, still have a palace prebuild at Dover.
And The Save

Got it. Will have some more parts ready for g-man by tonight.

1870
Sell Sythetic Fibers to Byzantines and Babylon, for 11K, neither have started a space ship yet. France has three parts in progress, and she lacks SynFib and I think I'll keep it the way.

Load some TacNukes in boomers and head out for France.

Spend down the hoard rushing some things, mostly commercial improvements and culture in the east.

Do some spying and find that Greece, Byzantines and Babylon have their research establishments running at 100% and Babylon will get the Net.

1872
Pollution clearing and terrain trimming. Matching nukes to subs.

Babylon comlpletes the Internet and the French build the SS Docking Bay.

Byzantine and Babylonian troop movement on the borders of old Araby and former Sumeria.

1874
Positioning tactical nukes on French coast.

1876
French have one nuclear sub in the water. Babylon has five. Byzantines also have five.

1878
We finish a space ship part.

Delay UN election.

Ottomans learn Satellites and and we steal it, then they get SynFibers and some of our luxury goods as a consolation prize.

Dover gets the honor of building the Thrusters for the Good Ship Lollipop. Bath gets to start the Palace for the next SS part.

Babylon and Byzantium have apparently spent everything they have upgrading military. Sell Byzanyium Satellites and hope she sells it on to Babylon. Byzantines now have four spaceship parts under construction.

French ship gets a cockpit. Byzantine ship gets a Docking Bay.

1880
Babylon has Satellites but Byzantiens don't have any more money. Perfidious Albion is not the only tech theif out there I think. Still can't get a spy into Greece but he still lacks Satellites.

Not much counsel to offer, our first ICBM's are being built, and we have tac nukes off the coast of France and a boatlaod of Marines and Mech Inf outside Kish. Trying to keep an eye on everybody's fleets by sailing destroyers in search patterns.

Byzantines apprently thought better of chllenging us in old Sumer as their troops were replaced by workers as soon as our Modern Armor showed up and the Babylonians still have one armored regiment haging above Aden, but New Bath and Baghdad are well defended. There are no transports of Marines moving around that I can spot.

Luxury stipend is at 10% just because I like smiley faces on the F1 screen and it helps with productivity in places like Mecca.

Here ya go, g-man

I have some spy pictures taken at 1870 just to give you an idea of the situation in each capitol:

i see it but it won't be done till Wed at the earliest. looks like nice work. what is our status in parts wrt the rest of the world? how many tech's till fini?

We are at worst even in parts completed with everyone and probably ahead by 1 part on most

From memory:
Superconductor (1 part I think, maybe 2)
Nuclear Power (0 parts)
The Laser (1 part)
Robotics (1 part)

We just keep a pre-build going and hope the AI researchs what we need.

We have six of ten, France 1, IIRC and Byzantines 1. Haven't been able to get a spy into Greece but they still lack Satellites and Uranium, though there is a source in their territory across the strait from Corinth. Babylon isn't building, nor is Turkey. Nuclear Power has not een discovered yet, so the Laser is still out there a ways.

Give it three turns and try again. IIRC I tried third turn.
