Jungles that burn down regrow as forests.

I started near a jungle. Acheron spawned near me and lit the place up. The jungle regrew... as forests, good for clearing for hammers and without sanitation.

It doesn't make much sense for a raging fire started by a pissed off dragon to give such a serious benefit to your empire, you know? Fires can't destroy improvements or anything, just jungles and forests, which regrow when the fire passes. Gotta be a bug.

On the other hand, man are good at destroying forests and jungles. Forests can be regrown (fairly quickly), but jungles take almost forever to regrow if ever (before earth is destroyed by other means that is).

Edit: I use the fire spell (is it blaze) to "destroy" my jungles, so I can get nice forests instead. I'm so happy with my productivity:lol: .

Also, forests regrow way, way, way too fast. In many cases, fires seems to never go out, just because the forest regrows faster than the fire dies out...

Yeah, it would be better if it took some time for the forest to regrow so any fires die out by themself and so you got a choice, to improve the land (a faster way, since the time to chop down the trees are gone) or let the land be so the forest will regrow.

While I find it okay, that forst comes before jungle (after all jungle is simply a very dense forrest - it need not be a tropical kind, there's also "cold" jungles which took hundreds of years to grow) MaxAstro is right:

Forrest regrows too quickly, especially compared to the fire extinction rate.

Jungles are not just very dense forests.

The ground in a forest tends to be fertile and a lot of the biomass in a forest in present in the soil and as rotting leaves etc. This allows the regrowth of a forest once it has burnt down (although FfH does have very fast regrowing forests lol).

A jungle has the majority of its biomass locked up in the trees etc, therefore if you burn down a jungle, it is very unlikely to regrow, and may well even become desert depending on the extend of soil erosion to follow.

It does sort of "go against the grain" to see elves rushing for fire mana, to blaze jungle, but the worker-turn saving is huge. Maybe an "Ancient Jungle" terrain type is called for.

Yeah, I think it should be added along with the ideas for the hinterland mechanic (making terrains/features impassible (at least to some units), unsettleable, and even unownable until certain techs.) I think that there is already an impassible "deep jungle" planned which normal jungles could grow to be. Other terrains like marshes would be good to.

Since one main differences between forests and jungles is the soil, perhaps jungles should appear on different base terrain (a sort of wasteland, similar to deserts, or a march maybe).

If marshland were implemented it might be a good idea for jungle to grow exclusively on that (or maybe plains also). Marshland would be an awesome addition and could really add some flavour to the game! (How long before people started calling their local marshland the "swamps of sadness" lol). Maybe including a "negative" improvement somewhere in marshland that increased unhappiness in nearby cities (or something like that) could represent such a swamp :D

Btw Swamp of Sadness is a reference to the neverending story :p

Like Alzara I think if it was the Base terrain that provided the jungle productivity penalty rather than the feature, then blazing a jungle would have very little benefit and help to keep Erebus a greener happier place longer.

And my friend OooK agrees with me on that!
